512 yilinda Jijeung of Silla Usan-guk’u(Ulleung’un orjinal ismi) fetheder. Silla’nin çöküsünden sonra Goryeo burayi ele geçirir ve adini Ulleung olarak degistirir.
Ulleung ilçesi Kuzey Gyeongsang eyaletinin bir ilçesidir.Ulleungdo adalardan meydana gelmistir.Ada 1 eup and 2 myeon olmak üzere 3 bölgeye ayrilmistir. Bunlar Ulleung-eup, Buk-myeon, and Seo-myeon dur.
Nüfusu 10,426 dir ve yüzölçümü 72.518 km2 dir.
