The Tomb of a Dog / Köpeğin Türbesi
GYEONGSANGBUKDO, GYEONGJU’da yaşlı bir dul oğlu ve kızıyla yaşardı. Sinra dönemiydi.
Öyle fakirdi ki, çocuklarını desteklemek için kendini paralıyordu. Ölmeden evvel etrafı gezip tapınakları ziyaret etmeye hiç şansı olmadı. Öbür dünyaya intikal ettiğinde, Yer altı Kralı ona ölmeden önce hiç tapınak ziyaret edip etmediğini veya gezi yerlerine gidip gitmediğini sordu. Dul, çok fakir olduğundan bunların hiçbirini yapamadığını söyledi. Kral dedi ki:
"Sen evini korumayı çok seviyorsun bu nedenle köpek olarak tekrardan dünyaya gelmen ve çocuklarının evini koruman senin için en iyisi olur. "
Böylece dul kadın oğlunun köpeği olarak tekrardan dünyaya geldi. Köpek yaşlandığında sahibi, yani oğlu, onu öldürüp köpek çorbası yapmaya karar verdi. Ertesi gün öldürmek için köpeğini ararken , köpek kızının yani sahibinin kız kardeşinin dağdaki evine, gözyaşları döktüğü yere kaçtı. Kız köpeği besledi ve gece kalması için onu içeri aldı.
Bu sırada dul kadının oğlunun evine bir keşiş geldi ve dedi ki;
“ Senin köpeğin ölmüş annenin reenkarnasyon ile dünyaya dönmüş hali. O ölmeden önce kendini seni ve kız kardeşini yetiştirmeye adamıştı ve bu yüzden o evini korumak için köpek olarak sana gönderildi. Şimdi sen o köpeği öldürmeye çalışıyorsun, o senin kız kardeşinle, yani kızıyla vedalaşmaya gitmiş olmalı.Lütfen köpeği öldürme. Onu öldürmek yerine ölmeden önce gidemediği, ziyaret edemediği yerleri görmesi için ona bir şans ver.
Soyadı CHA olan oğul, annesi için çok üzülmüştü, bu yüzden kız kardeşinin evine gitti ve ona keşişin söylediklerini anlattı. Sonra köpeğini sırtına alarak ülkenin ünlü dağlarını ve tapınaklarını ziyaret etmek için bir geziye çıktı.
Dönüş yolunda sahibi köpeği sırtından indirdi, köpek yeri eşeleyip bir delik açtı ve orada öldü. Dul kadının oğlu köpeği oraya gömdü ve sonrasında zengin oldu. Bu zenginliğinin ailesinde nesilden nesile arttığı söylenir.

The Tomb of a Dog
In GYEONGJU, GYEONGSANGBUKDO a poor widow lived with her son and daughter. This was in SINRA.
She was so poor that she toiled herself to support her children, never having any chance to travel around and visit temples before she died. When she reached the other world, the King of the underworld asked if she had visited any temples or any sights before dying. The widow answered that she had been so poor that she had hardly ever been to any place. The King said,
"You like keeping houses so much that you better be born into a dog and guard your children's house."
So she came to this world again incarnated as a puppy born to her son's dog. When the puppy grew up, the master , or her son, decided to slaughter the dog to make dog soup. The next day when he looked for his dog, it escaped to her daughter, or his sister's house over the mountain, where the dog shed tears. The daughter fed the dog and put it in for the night.
In the meanwhile, a monk came to her son's house and said,
"You have a dog which is reincarnation of your late mother. She devoted herself to raising you and your sister before dying, and so she was sent to you in the form of a dog to guard your house. Now that you are trying to kill the dog, it must have gone to your sister's to say good-bye. Please don't kill the dog. Instead let it have a chance to visit places she has never been to."
The son, whose last name was CHA, was so sorry for her mother that he went to his sister's house and told her what the monk told him. Then he went on a trip to look around all the famous mountains and temples in the country with the dog on his back.
On their way back home. the dog got off his back, dug a hole on the ground, and died. The son buried the dog there, and later he got rich, and his family prospered generation after generation, they say.
