The Tiger Skin Which Is Not Original / Sahte Kaplan Kürkü
Uzun zaman önce adamın biri çarşıya gitti, çok içti.
Eve dönerken tepede uyuyakaldı. Bir süre sonra yüzünde nem hissetti, uyandı. Karanlıktı, kaplan nemli kuruğunu adamın yüzüne sürüyordu. Kaplanlar uyuyanları yemez. Saldırmadan evvel avlarını uyandırırlar. Adam ölümüne korkmuştu ancak bu bir ölüm kalım meselesiydi. Ölmeden önce karşı koymaya karar verdi. Kaplanın kuyruğunu kaptı ve hayvanın sırtına atladı. Şafak sökene dek kaplanın sırtına yapışık kaldı. Kaplan artık yoruldu, inine dönmeye çalıştı ama adam inin kapısına ayaklarıyla yapışarak kaplanın ine girmesini engellemeye çalıştı; çünkü ine bir kez girerlerse adam öleceğini biliyordu. Kaplan ine girmeye çalışıyor, adam ise girmemeye. İne girdiklerinde bir şey kaydı çıktı. Bu, kürkünü ardında bırakan kaplandı.
Adam, kendisine çok para kazandıracak kaplan kürküyle evine döndü. Komşusu adamdaki şansı duydu, kendi şansını denemeye karar verdi. Öbür adamın yaptığı gibi içip tepeye gitti. Bir kaplan gelip de kendisini kuyruğuyla dürtene dek orada uyudu. Kaplanın sırtına atladı. Kaplan, üstünde adamla gece boyu dağda koşup durdu. En sonunda yoruldu, inine girmeyi denedi. Adam, kaplanı inine sokmamak için elinden geleni yaptı. Kaplan yine aynı şekilde kürkünü ardında bırakarak kayıp inine geçti. Adam, kürkü alıp pazara gitti. Tabakçıya kürkü gösterdi. Tabakçı, kürkün kaplanın ikinci kürkü olduğundan pek değerli olmayacağını söyledi. Adam eğer ki kürkü satmak istiyorsa $5 verebileceğini, bununla da kendisine gidip içki alabileceğini söyledi. Adam hayal kırıklığına uğradı...

Long time ago a man went to the market and overdrank himself.
On his way home, he fell asleep on a hill. A while later, he felt something damp on his face and woke up. It was dark and a tiger was brushing his damp tail on his face. Tigers don't eat sleeping people. They wake their preys up before devouring them. He was scared to death, but it was a life and death situation. He decided to put up a resistance before dying. He grabbed the tiger's tail and jumped on its back. The tiger was caught unguarded, and he started to run, trying to drop him off his back. But he clung himself to the tiger tightly until dawn. The tiger got tired and tried to return to his den, but the man on its back put his feet against the entrance of the den and resisted with all his might as he would die once they are inside. The tiger exerted himself to get in, and the man not to, when something slipped away into the den. It was the tiger, who left its skin behind.
The man returned home with the tiger skin, which brought him a lot of money when sold. A neighbor heard of his fortune, and decided to try his own luck. He went up on the hill drunk and slept until a tiger showed up and brushed his face with his damp tail. He jumped on the back of the tiger, and they ran through the mountain all night long. At last the tired tiger tried to get into his den and the man tried his best not to let the tiger in his den. Again, the tiger slipped through, leaving his skin behind. The man took the skin to the market to the tanner, who took a close look at the skin and said that it's not worth much as it was a second skin. If he wanted to sell it, he would give 5 dollars, which would buy him a drink, the tanner said. The man was very disappointed.
