The Legend of Shimcheong (Shimcheong Efsanesi)
BAEKRYEONGDO ve JANGSAN arasındaki INDANGSU gemilerin batmasına sebep olan kuvvetli akım noktası idi. İnsanlar Su Tanrısı’nı sakinleştirmek için bir kurban verirlerdi. ShimCheong, kör bir adamın kızıydı.
ShimCheong, 300 çuval pirinç karşılığı kendini gemi aracılığıyla Çinlilerle iş yapan tüccarlara sattı. INDANGSU’da onu kurban ettiler.
İlginçtir ki, ShimCheong boğulmadı. Deniz altında bir saraya indi. Bir nilüfer çiçeği içinde yeniden su yüzüne çıktı. Çiçek sürüklenip bir kayanın üstünde sıkıştı. Daha sonraları bu kayaya Nilüfer Çiçeği Tomurcuğu Kayası dendi.
Aynı tüccarlar eve dönüşte bu kayaya rastladılar ve çiçeği gördüler. Çiçeği krala götürdüler. Kral, çiçek içindeki ShimCheong’u buldu ve onunla evlendi. Çiçeğin sıkıştığı kayaya YEONBONGBAWI, yakınındaki köye de YEONHWARI ismi verildi.

The Legend of Shimcheong
Between BAEKRYEONGDO and JANGSAN point was INDANGSU where the strong current caused frequent shipwrecks and so people used to sacrifice a victim, ususally a virgin, to calm the water god. ShimCheong was a daughter of a blind man.
She sold herself for 300 rice bags to the merchants who did business with the chinese by ship. They sacrificed her at INDANGSU.
Curiously, she was not drowned. Instead, she went down to the palace under the sea, and came up on the surface again in a lotus flower, which drifted and got stuck on a rock, which was later named The Lotus Bud Rock.
The same merchants came by the rock on their way back, and they spotted the flower. They took the flower to the King, who found her in the flower and married her. The rock on which the lotus flower got stuck was given the name YEONBONGBAWI, and the village near the rock YEONHWARI.
