Bu yıl 613. yılını kutlayacak olan Sungkyunkwan Üniversitesi (SKKU) Kore'nin yüksek öğretim kökenlerini temsil ediyor. Diğer Dünya Üniversitelerini yansıtarak uzun geçmişi ile en prestijli üniversitedir. Başlangıçta ahlaki ve yurtdaşlık eğitimi de ön planda idi. Bu gerçek SKKU, Neokonfüçyüsçülük prensipleri üzerine somutlaşan dört kardinal erdeme ayrılmıştır; insanlık (인:In), doğruluk (의:Eui), dürüstlük (예:Ye) ve bilgelik (지:Ji). Bu dört erdem ruh, eylem, vicdan ve akıl; insanoğlunun dört unsurudur.
SKKU şu anda tabanı yurtdışında yetişmiş, iletişimsel liderlik bazına sahip öğrenciler yetiştirmek için uğraşıyor. Dünya Sınıfı Araştırma Üniversitesi olarak SKKU küresel toplumun gelişmesi için katkıda bulunmaktadır.
Dünyaca ünlü küresel şirket SAMSUNG desteğiyle, SKKU yüksek öğretimde yaratıcı ve yenilikçi bir merkez haline gelmiştir. Bizdeki yaklaşık temel bilgiler, uygulamalı araştırmalar, küresel toplum ve akademik-sanayi işbirliği de dahil, pedegolojik modellere odaklanmak paradıgma değişimini temsil eder.
Önümüzdeki 10 yıla baktığımızda, üniversitenin yeni rolü olarak kendi özerkliği, çeşitliliği ve kampüs yaşamımızın temel bileşenleri olan güven değerleri konusunda görüşlerimizi ilerletiyoruz. Biz kolay yoldan sadece ilerlediğimiz diğer yolları takip etmiyoruz. Biz tamamıyla az olan seyahatimizi devam ettiriyoruz. Dileğimiz bir gün sonunda tüm harika üniversitelerin ölçüsündeki standartlara ulaşmayı sağlamaktır. Bu bizim düşünce türümüz olan 2020 vizyonumuzun bir parçasıdır.

The History of Sungkyunkwan University(SKKU), which is celebrating its 613th anniversary this year, represents the origins of Korea's higher education. Reflecting on the history of world universities, the most prestigious tend to have emerged from a long history. They also were initially at the forefront of moral and civic education.
This is true of SKKU, which was founded on the principles of Neo-Confucianism and embodied its four cardinal virtues; Humanity (인:In), Righteousness (의:Eui), Propriety (예:Ye) and Wisdom (지:Ji). These virtues represent an expression of humankind's four inherent elements of spirit, action, conscience, and intellect.
At present SKKU is striving to educate talented students with abroad knowledge base, communicative leadership and a creative challenging spirit. As a World Class Research University this is one way in which SKKU is contributing to the development of a harmonious global society.
With the support of the world renowned global company SAMSUNG, SKKU has become a creative and innovative center of higher education. Our collaborative approach represents a paradigm shift in which we focus on pedagogical models that incorporate foundational knowledge, applied research, a focus on global society, and academic-industrial collaboration.
As we look ahead to the next 10 years, we are seeking to advance our notion of the universities new role that of spreading the values of self-autonomy, diversity, communication and trust as core components of our campus life. We are not simply following the same path that others have trod. We are definitely pursuing the path less traveled. We have a dream that someday that our direction will eventually become the standard by which all great universities are measured. This is the sort of thinking that is part of our VISION 2020.
To achieve this, SKKU has set forth a number of goals that we will pursue with passion over the next decade. They include:
