Sports Minister Encourages Taekwondoists

New football coach says he will adopt "Spanish style" of play

Güney Kore'nin yeni milli futbol takimi antrenörü Cho Kwang-rae, persembe günkü konusmasinda, takiminin Ispanya’nin bu sene Dünya Kupasi'nda yaptiklari gibi kisa paslarda daha iyi ve hizli olmasini istiyor.

Kore Futbol Federasyonu'nun, Huh Jung-moo'dan sonra gelecek olan antrenör duyurusundan sonra, 56 yasindaki antrenörün basin toplantisinda yaptigi konusmada “Ispanya, Güney Afrika’daki Dünya Kupasi'ni kazandiktan sonra, paslasma özellikleri ve hizli atak ve defans geçisleri futbolda önem kazandi” dedigi bildirildi.

Huh, Güney Afrika Dünya Kupasi'nda ikinci etapta, Güney Kore takimina ilk kez yaptigi liderligin ardindan istifa etti.

South Korea's new national football team coach Cho Kwang-rae said Thursday that he wants his team to be quicker and better at short passing, the skills he said that Spain used to hoist this year's World Cup trophy.

"After Spain won the World Cup in South Africa, passing skills and quick offense and defense transitions have become more important in football," the 56-year-old told reporters at a press conference, a day after the Korean Football Association announced he will succeed Huh Jung-moo as the coach.

Huh stepped down last month after leading the South Korean squad to the second round of the South African World Cup for the first time in an away tournament.

Park Tae-hwan promises gold medal at upcoming Asian Games

Güney Kore’nin Olimpik yüzmede altin madalya ödülünü kazanan Park Tae-hwan cuma günkü açiklamasinda, kolay gelen birinci kisim yarismalarini bu hafta evinde tamamladiktan sonra, Kasim'da yapilacak olan Asya Oyunlari için daha siki çalisacagini söyledi.

20 yasindaki yildiz yüzücü, “Son üç ayi Avustralya’da siki bir çalismayla geçirdim. Asya Oyunlari'nda iyi sonuçlar almak için daha çok çalisacagim.” dedi.

Park, Seoul’un 234 kilometre güneyindeki Gimcheon’da cuma günü yapilan yarista, erkekler 200 metre serbest yüzüste 1:47.41 dakikada parkuru tamamladi. Bu sonuç, 2008 Beijing Olimpiyatlari'nda Park’in gümüs madalya kazanmasini saglayan ve yaptigi en iyi dereceden yaklasik 3 saniye geride.

South Korea's Olympic swimming gold medalist Park Tae-hwan said Friday he will train harder for the Asian Games in November after easy first-place finishes at a home tournament this week.

"I've been training hard in Australia for the past three months. I'll work even harder to attain good results at the Asian Games," the 20-year-old swimming star said.

Park clocked in at 1:47.41 in the men's 200-meter freestyle event at Friday's competition in Gimcheon, 234 kilometers south of Seoul, about three seconds behind his personal best, which he set at the 2008 Beijing Olympics to win a silver medal.
