1940 yılında, eğitim ve araştırma da mükemmelliğe adanmış bir öğrenme yeri olarak Sejong Üniversitesini oluşturduk. Bu çalışmanın her yılında Kore'nin en seçkin ve önde gelen akademik kurumlarından biri olarak nihayet buldu ve Sejong şimdi dünyada tanınan bir üniversite olmayı hedefleyerek başka bir atılım yapmaya hazırlanıyor.

Muazzam büyüklükteki bu değişim, oluş nedenini sorgulamak her yerde üniversiteler için zorluklar teşkil etmektedir.

Bu girişimler üniversitenin bilim, teknoloji ve mühendislik bölümlerini Kore'nin ilk onuna sokan araştırma kapasitesini; yeni büyüme mekanizmasına, gençlerin işsizlik sorununu azaltması beklenen girişimciliğe ve yenilenmeye kaynak olmada ülkenin en iyilerinden olan sanat ve beden eğitimi bölümünün güçleriyle birleştirmek için bir temel oluşturacak. Bu girişimin bir parçası olarak, Sejong'un tasarım ve eğlence alanlarındaki yetenekleriyle bilgi ve iletişim teknolojilerini sermaye olarak kullanmak üzere bir Sejong-TED girişimcilik okulu açma planı kurduk. Bu okul girişim yapmakla ilgilenen herkese açık olacak. Okulun, küresel ekonomi mücadelelerine ileriye dönük yanıt verme konusunda üniversiteye yardım etmesi bekleniyor. Değişikliğe tepki değil, yön veren; dünyayı değiştirmek için tüm dünyayla bağlantılı olan, dünyayı tek bir birlik hâline getirme yolunda önemli bir rol oynayan bir üniversite – bu hayal ettiğimiz gelecek ve olmayı arzuladığımız şeydir.

Her gün yeniden tarih yazmamızı sağlayacak hayallerimiz ve bu hayalleri gerçekleştirmek için güç ve azmimiz var. Yeni mücadeleler ve yaratıcı yenilenme yolunda devam edeceğiz.

Message from the President

In 1940, Sejong University created a place of learning dedicated to excellence in education and research. Years of this endeavor have resulted in one of Korea’s most distinguished and prominent academic institutions, and Sejong is now poised to make another leap, aiming to become a university with global recognition.

This change of enormous magnitude poses challenges for universities everywhere that question their reason for being.

These efforts will provide a foundation for the university to combine the research capabilities that put the university's science, technology and engineering departments among the top ten in Korea and the strengths of its art & physical education department that is one of the best in the country to fuel the new growth engine and serve as a hotbed for entrepreneurship and innovation, which is expected to help ease the youth unemployment problem. As part of this effort, we created a plan to open a Sejong-TED entrepreneurship school capitalizing on information and communication technologies and Sejong’s competence in the fields of design and entertainment. This school will be open to anyone who is interested in starting a business and is expected to help the university proactively respond to the challenges of the global economy. A university that leads change, instead of reacting to it, and one that communicates with the world to bring changes to the world and plays an important role in turning the world into one unified community – that is the future we envision and what we aspire to become.

We have dreams and the capability and passion to turn them into reality, which will allow us to write new history every day. And we will continue on this path of new challenges and creative innovation.

Tarihi

1940 Dr. Young-ha Choo, Kyung Sung Beşeri Bilimler Enstitüsü'nü kurdu.
1948 Dr. Young-ha Choo, Seoul Kadın Eğitim Koleji'nin ilk başkanı oldu.
1954 Üniversite ikinci yeni bir düzenleme geçirdi ve Soodo Kadın Eğitim Koleji iki yıllık bir kurum olarak ortaya çıktı.

1961 Soodo Kadın Eğitim Koleji dört yıllık bir kurum haline geldi.
1966 Üniversite mezunlarınin çalışmaları için küçük bir program kurulduğunu duyurdu.
1973 Soodo Müzesi kampüste açıldı. Zamanla Kore'nin en önemli müzelerinden biri oldu.
1978 Soodo Kadın Eğitim Koleji, Sejong Koleji olarak değiştirildi ve erkek lisans öğrencilerinin başvuruları kabul edilmeye başlandı.

1981 3.000 koltuklu Daeyang Salonu'nda, 5 katlı oditoryumun tamamlanması anısına vakfın 30. yıldönümünü kutlamak için tören yapıldı.
1987 Sejong Koleji altı yeni lisans bölümleri, üç yüksek lisans ve dört doktora programlarını kapsayacak boyutta genişledi ve Sejong Üniversitesi oldu.
1999 Üniversite Kütüphanesi, 400,000'den fazla kapasitesi ile kampüste açıldı. Bu Kore'deki ilk WTO (Dünya Ticaret Örgütü) kütüphanesiydi.

2002 Eğitim Reformu Müzakere Komisyonu resmi olarak başarıyla üniversitenin yeniden yapılandırıması ve yenilenmesi için Sejong Üniversitesi'ni ödüllendirdi.
2004 · Kampüste Bilim ve Teknoloji Bakanlığı'nın Ulusal Araştırma Laboratuvarı (NRL) kuruldu.
· Eğitim ve İnsan Kaynakları Geliştirme Bakanlığı, özgünlük, yenilikçilik ve akademik başarıyı teşvik etmede mükemmelliği için Sejong Üniversitesi'ni tebrik etti.
2007 · ABBA (Akreditasyon Kurulu Kore Mühendislik Eğitimi) sertifika programları, Elektronik ve Bilgi Mühendisliği Koleji ve Mühendislik Koleji'nde başladı.
· İşletme Enstitüsü, Gelişmiş İşletme Üniversite Okulları Derneği sertifikasını aldı.
· Sejong Üniversitesi, "2020 vizyonu için" bu yükseköğretimin uluslararası kabul görmüş bir kurum olma niyetini açıkladı.

History

1940 Dr. Young-ha Choo founded the Kyung Sung Humanities Institute.
1948 Dr. Young-ha Choo became the first president of the Seoul Women’s College of Education.
1954 The college underwent a second reorganization and emerged as Soodo Women’s College of Education, a two-year institution.

1961 Soodo Women’s college of Education became a four-year institution.
1966 The college announced the establishment of a small program for graduate studies.
1973 The Soodo Museum opened on campus. At the time, it was one of the most important museums in Korea.
1978 Soodo Women’s College of Education changed its name to Sejong College and began admitting male undergraduates.

1981 A ceremony commemorating the completion of Daeyang Hall, a 5-story auditorium with 3,000 seats, was held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of foundation.
1987 Sejong College became Sejong University, expanding in size to include six new undergraduate departments, three master’s and four doctoral degree programs.
1999 The University Library opened on campus with more than 400,000 volumes. It was the first WTO(World Trade Organization) library in Korea.

2002 The Education Reform Deliberation Commission officially awarded Sejong University for successfully restructuring and renovating the university.
2004 · The Ministry of Science and Technology established a National Research Laboratory(NRL)on campus.
· The Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development recognized Sejong University for excellence in promoting originality, innovation, and academic achievement.
2007 · ABBA(Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea)certification programs began in the College of Electronics & Information Engineering and in the College of Engineering.
· The Graduate School of Business received certification from the Association of Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
· Sejong University stated its intent to become an internationally recognized institution of higher education in this "Vision for 2020"
