Royal Culture Festival Brings Back Korean Royal Ceremonies

İmparator Gojong'un diplomatik elçilerin resmi olarak kabul edilmesi, 2 ila 7 Mayıs tarihleri arasında Seul'deki Deoksugung Sarayı'ndaki Jeonggwanehon Pavilion'da (정관헌) tekrar oynanacak.

1300'lü yılların sonlarından 1900'lü yılların başlarına kadar mahkeme törenlerini kutlayan Kraliyet Kültür Festivali, Seul'ün Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung ve Deoksugung olan dört sarayında ve Jongmyo Tapınağı'nda 10 gün boyunca gerçekleştirilecek.

28 Nisan'daki açılış töreninden 7 Mayıs'daki kapanış törenine kadar, beş festival mekânında sergi, gösteri ve uygulamalı faaliyetler de dahil olmak üzere toplam 29 etkinlik düzenlenecek.

En dikkat çekici olaylardan biri, 29 Nisan'dan itibaren üç gün boyunca her gün, Deoksugung Sarayı'ndaki Junghwajeon Salonu'nda (중화전) düzenlenecek olan "Koreli İmparatora Taç Giydirilmesi" dir. Tören, Daehan İmparatorluğu (1897-1910) ilanının 120. Yıldönümünü kutlamaktadır. Bu 1897 yılında yerini alan İmparator Gojong’un (고종, 高宗) (1852-1919) taç giydirme törenini yeniden oynanması festival için ilk ilktir.

Deoksugung Sarayı, taç giyme töreninin yeniden canlandırılmasının yanı sıra o zamanlarla ilgili birçok etkinliğe ev sahipliği yapacak.

2- 7 Mayıs tarihleri arasında Emperor Gojong'u oynayan aktörler ve yabancı bir diplomat Jeonggwanehon Köşkü'nde (정관헌) "Kore İmparatorluğuna Elçilerin Diplomatik Sunumu"nu sunacaklar. Ziyaretçiler 29 Nisan'dan 7 Mayıs'a kadar Sejokjojeon Salonu (석조전) önünde "Kore İmparatorluğu ve Kahve" adı verilen bir standı ziyaret edebilecekler ve hatta Gojong'un en sevdiği söylenen kahve çeşidini tadabilecekler. Ayrıca Junghwajeon Salonu'nda 4, 5 ve 7 Mayıs tarihlerinde "Kore İmparatorluğu Konseri" gerçekleştirilecek.


Deoksugung Sarayı'ndaki Kraliyet Kültür Festivali ziyaretçileri, İmparator Gojong'un en sevdiği söylenen kahveyi Seokjojeon Salonu'nun önündeki stantta tadabilirler.

Festival, Kore’nin eski kraliyet hanesiyle ilgili diğer pek çok etkinliğe de sahiptir.

Turistler Sojubang’da Gyeongbokgung Sarayı’ndaki kraliyet mutfağını 29 Nisan’dan 7 Mayıs’a kadar tadabilirler. Gojongun karısı İmparatoriçe Myeongseong ve İmparator Gojong'ın babası Heungseon Daewongun Yi Ha-eung'un hakkındaki tarihsel oyun 3 Mayıs'tan 6 Mayıs'a kadar Changgyeonggung Sarayı'ndaki Munjeongjeon Salonu'nda gerçekleşecek.

Royal Culture Festival Brings Back Korean Royal Ceremonies


Emperor Gojong’s formal reception of diplomatic envoys will be reenacted in the Jeonggwanehon Pavilion (정관헌) at Deoksugung Palace in Seoul from May 2 to 7.


The Royal Culture Festival, which celebrates court rituals from the late 1300s to the early 1900s, will be held over 10 days at Seoul’s four palaces -- Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung and Deoksugung -- and at the Jongmyo Shrine.

From the opening ceremony on April 28 to the closing ceremony on May 7, a total of 29 events, including an exhibition, performances and hands-on activities, will be held at the five festival venues.

One of the most noteworthy events is the "Korean Empire Coronation" that will be reenacted in the Junghwajeon Hall (중화전) at Deoksugung Palace every day for three days starting April 29. The ceremony celebrates the 120th anniversary of the declaration of the Daehan Empire (1897-1910). This is the first time for the festival to reenact the coronation of Emperor Gojong (고종, 高宗) (1852-1919), which took place in 1897.

Other than the reenactment of the coronation ceremony, Deoksugung Palace will also host many other events related to those times.

From May 2 to 7, actors playing Emperor Gojong and a foreign diplomat will present the "Diplomatic Reception for Envoys to the Korean Empire” in the Jeonggwanehon Pavilion (정관헌). Visitors will be able to visit a booth called the "Korean Empire and Coffee” in front of the Seokjojeon Hall (석조전) from April 29 to May 7, and will even be able to sample what is said to have been Gojong’s favorite type of coffee. Also, in the Junghwajeon Hall, a "Korean Empire Concert” will be performed on May 4, 5 and 7.


Visitors to the Royal Culture Festival at Deoksugung Palace can taste what is said to have been Emperor Gojong’s favorite type of coffee at a booth in front of the Seokjojeon Hall.

The festival has many other events, too, related to Korea's ancient royal household.

In the Sojubang, the royal kitchens at Gyeongbokgung Palace, tourists can taste official royal cuisine from April 29 to May 7. A historical play about Gojong, his wife Empress Myeongseong and the Heungseon Daewongun Yi Ha-eung, the father of Emperor Gojong, will take place in the Munjeongjeon Hall at Changgyeonggung Palace from May 3 to May 6.
