Palsongjeong

During the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, General LEEYEOSONG from the Ming Dynasty in China came to aid the Korean army. When he arrived at DAEGWANYEONG and looked down, in the distance there were eight Generals with thousands of soldiers armed with swords and spears.
He was so overwhelmed by this sight that he ordered his troops to turn back and retreated. However, the eight Generals were actually eight gigantic pine trees, the soldiers a pine tree forest, and the swords and spears only Indian millets reflected against the sunset. The name of that place was PALSONGJEONG meaning the field with eight gigantic pine trees. The Japanese later dropped PAL meaning eight from the name, and so it has been called SONGJEONG since then.
