Obama Calls For More Investment In Clean Energy To Catch Up With S. Korea

Obama, Güney Kore’ye Yetisebilmek için Temiz Enerjiye Daha Fazla Yatirim Çagrisinda Bulundu

ABD Baskani Barack Obama Cuma günü vatandaslarina, temiz enerji teknolojisinin gelismesinde Güney Kore ve diger ülkelerin gerisinde kalmamalari için daha fazla yatirim yapilmasi gerektigi çagrisinda bulundu.

Beyaz Saray tarafindan yayimlanan bir belgeye göre, Obama Indianapolis’de bir Allison sanziman fabrikasinda isçilere “Biz dünyanin dört bir yaniyla rekabet içerisindeyiz ve Almanya, Çin, Güney Kore gibi diger ülkeler ileriki yillarda, temiz enerji teknolojisinin istihdam yaratma ve ekonomik büyümeyi tesvik etmeye yardim edecegini çok iyi biliyorlar.” açiklamasini yapti. ”Ve biz bu yarista kazandigimiza emin olmak zorundayiz.”dedi.

Güney Kore hükümeti bu yil günes ve rüzgâr enerjisi gibi temiz enerji teknolojisinin gelistirilmesinde 4,5 trilyon ₩(US $ 4 milyar dolar) yatirim yapmayi planladigini duyurdu.

U.S. President Barack Obama Friday urged his nation to invest more in the development of clean energy technology in order not to lag behind South Korea and other countries.

"We're in a competition all around the world, and other countries -- Germany, China, South Korea -- they know that clean energy technology is what is going to help spur job creation and economic growth for years to come," Obama told workers at an Allison Transmission Plant in Indianapolis, Indiana, according to a transcript released by the White House. "And that's why we've got to make sure that we win that competition."

The South Korean government has announced plans to invest 4.5 trillion won (US$4 billion) this year in the development of clean energy technology, such as solar and wind power, up 23 percent from a year earlier.

S. Korea Records Fewer Industrial Accidents

Güney Kore Daha Az Sayida Endüstriyel Kaza Kayda Geçirdi

Pazar günü yayinlanan hükümet verilerine göre, Güney Kore bu yilin ilk dört ayinda daha az endüstriyel kaza yasadigini, hastalik ya da is yerinde yasanan aksiliklerden dolayi hayatini kaybeden isçi sayisinda da çok küçük bir artis kaydedildigini gösterdi.

Istihdam ve Çalisma Bakanligi’na göre, yilin ilk çeyreginde yasal tazminat hakki olan kaza sayisi 21,260’i buldu, bir yil önce ile karsilastirildiginda bu sayi yüzde 9,2 düstü.

South Korea suffered fewer industrial accidents in the first four months of this year, while the number of workers who died due to disease or other mishap at work recorded a slight increase, government data showed Sunday.

According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the number of accidents that are eligible for legal compensation totaled 21,260 in the first quarter, down 9.2 percent compared with a year earlier.

A Myanmar sailor was found dead on Tuesday in a chemical carrier's tank in this southeastern city in an apparent industrial death from suffocation, police said.

The 28-year-old migrant worker, whose name was withheld, was discovered by his colleagues earlier in the day lying unconscious on the 1,590-ton ship, which was anchored at a harbor in Ulsan, 414 kilometers southeast of Seoul, officials said.

Seoul Büyüksehir Belediyesi'nin yaptigi arastirmaya göre, politik, ekonomik ve sosyal statü bakimindan yüzde 51.3'lük kesim orta sinifin altinda oldugunu söylerken yüzde 23.2'lik kesim orta sinifin üstünde oldugunu söyledi. Geçtigimiz ekim ayi yapilan arastirmaya 47,000'den fazla vatandas katildi.

More than half of Seoul's citizens believe they belong to society's lower middle class, marking a slight increase from last year, a survey showed Wednesday.

By political, economic and social status, a total of 51.3 percent said they fall under the category of "lower middle class," while 23.2 percent said they belong to the upper middle class, according to the survey by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. More than 47,000 citizens took part in the poll last October.

A string of explosions involving what appeared to be butane gas occurred at Seoul's two major transportation hubs Thursday, prompting police to launch a terrorism probe.

No one was hurt or killed in the explosions at Seoul Station in the central part of the capital and Seoul Express Bus Terminal in southern part of the city, police said.

Korean high-speed train halts again due to brake system malfunction

Seoul'den kalkan KTX-Sancheon hizli treni, ülkenin güney kismindayken yasanan fren sistemindeki görünür ariza sebebiyle yaklasik bir saat süresince durdu.

Kore Demiryolu Kurumunun söyledigine göre, tren güney kiyisindaki Masan yolu üzerinde, Seoul'ün yaklasik 234 kilometre güneyinde bulunan Gimcheon yakinlarinda saat 15:13'de durdu. Tren, problemin düzeltilmesinin ardindan 52 dakika sonra hareket edebildi.

A high-speed KTX-Sancheon train from Seoul abruptly stopped Saturday in the southern part of the country for nearly an hour due to an apparent malfunction in its brake system, officials said.

The train came to an unscheduled halt at 3:13 p.m. near Gimcheon, some 234 kilometer south of Seoul, on its way to Masan on the south coast, the Korea Railroad Corp. (KORAIL) said. It resumed operations 52 minutes later after fixing the problem.
