Eom Jo, Joseon Kralı Yeongjo'nun 39. yılında Japonya'ya diplomat olarak gitmişti(1763), ülkeye bazı tatlı patates tohumları getirdi ve kestane rengi tatlı patates Daesin-myeon'in Namhangang Nehri bölgesinde ve Neungseo-myeon bölgesinde ekili tepelerde alüvyonlu topraklarda yetişir. Yeoju-gun özellikle orta bölgenin içinde bulunan tatlı patates için uygun bir iklime sahiptir.

Yeoju bunun popularitesi sayesinde diğer bölgelere göre daha pahalı tatlı patatesler yetiştirdi. Bundan dolayı satış halinde tatlı patatesleri diğerlerinden ayırmak ve Yeoju'nun tatlı patates ününü korumak için patentli olan bir özel ambalaj tasarımını geliştirdi.

Eom Jo, who went to Japan as a diplomat in the 39th year of King Yeongjo of Joseon (1763), brought some seeds of sweet potato into our country and chestnut sweet potato is grown in alluvial soil in the Namhangang River area of Daesin-myeon and cultivated hills in the Neungseo-myeon area. Yeoju-gun especially located in an inland of the mid region has an idealistic weather condition to plant sweet potato.

Yeoju-grown sweet potato is priced higher than other regions because of its popularity. Accordingly, Yeoju-gun developed a special wrapping design, which is patented, in order to distinguish our sweet potato from others and to maintain the fame of Yeoju’s sweet potato.
