Namsanseong Fortress in Gyeongju (Silla Period)

Gyeongju Sehri'ndeki Namsan Dagi'nin kuzey bölgesinde yer alan bu kale Silla döneminde insa edilmistir ve ayni zamanda Namsansinseong da denir. Bu kale ilk kez 591 yilinda, yani Kral Jinpyeong'un (579-632) 13. yilinda, Silla egemenliginin (M.Ö. 57-M.S. 935) 26. yilinda insa edilmis.
Kale 30. hükümdar olan Kral Munmu (661-681) tarafindan genisletilmistir ve o, ayni zamanda kalenin içinde yiyecek içecek ve silah ambarlari yaptirmistir.
Kalenin içinde birkaç çömlek kirigi bulunmustur ve bunlara kalenin insaatina karisan insanlarin isimleri, unvanlari ve aileleri yazilidir.
Buradan ayni zamanda üç yil içinde kalenin yikilmasi gerektigine ve buranin insasinda çalisanlarin cezalandirilmasi gerektigine dair yazili bir anlasma çikmistir.
Bu kayitlardan, isçilerin ülkenin dört bir yanindan geldigi anlasilmaktadir. Bu kalenin batidaki Seonghyeonsanseong, dogudaki Myeonghwalseong, kuzeydeki Bukhyeongsanseong ile birlikte dört ana duvardan biridir ve Silla'nin baskenti Gyeongju'yu korumak için tasarlanmistir.

Located at the northern area of Mt. Namsan of Gyeongju city, this fortress was constructed in the Silla Era and also called Namsansinseong. This fortress was first built in 591, the 13th year of King Jinpyeong (579-632), the 26th ruler of Silla (57B.C.-A.D.935).
The fortress was enlarged by King Munmu (661-681), the 30th ruler, and he also had storehouses for provisions and weapons constructed within the fortress.
Several shards of the fortress stele have been discovered and these are inscribed with the names, titles and homes of people involved with the construction of the fortress.
There is also an inscribed agreement starting that, should the fortress be destroyed within three years, those involved in its construction should be punished.
From the inscriptions, it deems the workers were from throughout the country. The fortress is one of the four major walls, along with Seonghyeonsanseong in the west, Myeonghwalseong in the east, Bukhyeongsanseong in the north, designed to protect Gyeongju, the capital of Silla.
