Sacheon Şehri’nde eskiden Palpo, şimdi Mokseom denen bir ada vardır. Uzun uzun zaman önce Palpo’lu bir kadın kıyıda çamaşır yıkarken, kendisine doğru yüzmekte olan bir ada gördü.
O kadar saşırdı ki adayı işaret ederek dedi ki:
“Aman Tanrım! Buraya sabitlenmiş bir ada var.”
Ada olduğu yerde durduğunda kadın, sözlerini korkuyla bitirmişti. Kadın olmasa, Başkan ya da büyük komutanlar çıkaracak ada yoluna devam edecek ve, şimdi Samcheonpo denen, olması gereken yerde duracaktı.
Ada şimdiki yerinde durduğundan, Samcheonpo’dan henüz büyük adam çıkmadığı söylenir. Adayla ilgili söylenen diğer şey ise, eğer atanı buraya gömersen ailenin nesiller boyu şanslı olacağı mezar alanı olmasıdır. Ancak Palpo köylüleri adadaki mezarların genç kızlarla adada flört etmek, uyurgezerlik veya toplumun felaketine sebep olacağına inandıklarından adada mezar kazmaya izin vermezler.
Bu yüzden, kimse bilmeden adada mezar kazmayı deneyenler oldu. Ama tuhaftır ki, bazı durumlar ortaya çıktı. Palpo’lu bir ihtiyar bir rüya görmüş. Rüyada ihtiyar adam, köylüleri nerede olduğu bilinmediği için tekrar açması kolay olmayan bir mezarla telaşlandırıyormuş. Bir seferde denizde yaktıkları 12 mezar açmışlar. Kameri ayın 15’inde, Palpo’da Juldarigi (halat çekme savaşı) oyunu düzenlerler. Kazanan takım adanın kontrolünü eline alır. Ada o günlerde şehrin himayesindedir.

There is an island named MOKSEOM in SACHEON city, whose previous name was PALPO. Long long time ago, a woman from PALPO was doing laundry at the beach when she saw an island floating toward her.
She was so surprised that she pointed to the island and said,
"Oh, my goodness, there's an island headed here."
Scarcely had she finished her words when the island stopped where it was. Without the woman, it would have continued its way and settled where it was supposed to be, here in SAMCHEONPO, which would have produced great men such as the President or great general.
As the island stopped where it is now, no great men have come from SAMCHEONPO yet, people say. Another thing about the island is that it is a propitious site for a grave, which means that if you bury your ancestor there, your family will prosper generation after generation. But the villagers from PALPO do not allow graves on the island, for they believe the graves cause mishaps like flirtation of maidens, sleep-walking, or the downfall of the community.
So, there were people who tried to fix a grave without anybody's knowing, but strangely enough when such occasions arose, one of the old people in PALPO had a dream which urged the villagers to exhume the grave, which was not easy because nobody knew where the grave was. At one time, they found and exhumed 12 caskets, which they buried at sea. On the 15th of the first lunar month, they used to hold JULDARIGI(tug of war) game in PALPO, and the winning team took charge of the island. These days, the island is in the charge of the city.
