Misyoner Wilson’ın Evi, doğu tarafındaki Yangnim Dağı tepesinde bulunan tuğla ile yapılmış iki katlı bir binadır. En eski Batı tarzı olan Gwangju’nun, Kore’de modern kültür ve mimarinin en yaşlı simgesidir. Wilson ailesinin Kore’de iken kaldığı bu ev 1920’lerde (tam tarih bilinmiyor) Amerikan misyoner Wilson tarafından yapılmıştır. Aile Kore’de çalışmalarını tamamladığında evin, misyoner amaçlı kullanılmaya devam edilmesi şartı ile evi çok ucuz bir fiyata sattı. Ev 1986 yılında Kore Chonnam Presbiteryen Kilisesi Genel Kurulu mülkiyetine geçirildi ve şimdilerde Kore Presbiteryen Kilisesi için ev ofis olarak hizmet vermektedir.
Kare şeklindeki ev oturma odası, bir aile odası, bir mutfak ve bir banyo (1. kat), birkaç yatak odası (2. kat), depo alanı ve bir kazan odasından (B1) oluşmaktadır. Evin girişinin doğu bölgesi ile karşı karşıya olduğu gerçeği Kore'nin mimari kültürüne hakim olduğunun sonucu olduğu söyleniyor. 55 milimetre kalınlığındaki gri tuğlayla inşa edilmiş bu Hollanda tarzındaki evin, birinci ve ikinci katına göz alıcı bir bant ile dış cephesine belirginlik verilmiştir.

Introduction

Missionary’s House of Wilson is a two-story brick building that sits upon the eastern foothills of Yangnimsan Mountain. Known as the oldest surviving Western-style house in Gwangju, the house is an icon of modern culture and architecture in Korea. The house was built by an American missionary named Wilson in the 1920s (exact date unknown) and was the home of the Wilson family while they stayed in Korea. When the family completed their work in Korea, they sold the house for a very cheap price with the stipulation that the house continued to be used for missionary purposes. The house fell into the possession of the General Assembly of Chonnam Presbyterian Church of Korea in 1986 and now serves as the home office for the Presbyterian Church of Korea.
The square-shaped house consists of a living room, a family room, a kitchen, and a bathroom (1F), several bedrooms (2F), and storage areas and a boiler room (B1). The fact that the entrance of the house faces east is said to be a result of the prevailing architectural culture of Korea at that time. A Netherland-style house built with 55-milimeter thick, gray bricks, the first and second stories are delineated on the exterior with an eye-catching band of bricks.

From Gwangju, take Bus 55 and get off at Gwangju Christian Hospital (광주기독병원).
Turn left onto the small alleyway next to the hospital and go towards Sajik Library.
Go straight 200m until arriving at the Missionary's House of Wilson on the left.
OR,
Take Bus 17, 25, 27, 48, 59, 76, 95, or 98.
Get off at Yangnim Humansia Apartments (양림 휴먼시아 1차).
Walk towards Gwangju Christian Hospital.
