Yapraklı ağaç, Myong Ji Eğitim Vakfı'nın kurucu ruhunu, onların kültür ve Hristiyan inancını öğrencilere aşılamak için onların kültürlerini, ilerleyen ulusal ferahlığı ve nihayetinde katkı sağlayabilecek sadık ve yetenekli lider olmayı ve dünya barışını sembolize etmektedir.

Tarzı ve Anlamı

1- Myong Ji Üniversitesi'nin kurucu ruhunu simgeleyen ağaç şekli, "Myong Ji Ağacı" olarak belirlenmiştir.

2- Myong Ji Ağacının dalları ve kökü Hristiyan Haç'ını değil gerçek sevinci ifade ediyor, aynı zamanda kolları dışarı uzanan bir kişinin görüntüsünü temsil ediyor.

3- Sayısız yapraklar ise Myong Ji'nin devam eden büyümesi için temel olarak eğitim faaliyetlerine hizmet edecek çok sayıda adayı temsil ediyor

Dizayn

1- Harf temelli fonksiyonel bir sembol yerine, bu soyut sembol Myung Ji Üniversitesinin görsel misyonu yakalanmaya çalışılır.

2- Sembolün temel mavi tonu Hristiyan inancını, barış ve büyüme için harcanan sınırsız potansiyeli temsil eder.

Concept

The leafed tree symbolizes the founding spirit of the Myong Ji Educational Foundation with the intention to imbue the students with the Christian faith, allowing them to become devoted and capable leaders, able to contribute to the advancement of our culture and national prosperity and ultimately to the realization of world peace.


Style and Meaning

1. The tree shape, signifying the founding spirit of Myong Ji University, is hereby designated as "The Myong Ji Tree."
2. The stem and branches of the Myong Ji Tree represents not only the Christian Cross, but also an image of a person stretching out his arms, expressing joy in his pursuit of truth.
3. The numerous leaves stand for the multitude of educational activities that will serve as the foundation for Myong Ji's continued growth.

Design

1. In lieu of a functional letter-based symbol, this abstract symbol attempts to visually capture the mission statement of Myong Ji University.
2. The basic blue tone of the symbol represents such values as the Christian faith, peace, and the unlimited potential for growth.

Brief History

1950 - 1970 (The period of birth)



Kwandong University was founded in 1954 on the basis of the Christian spirit of faith, hope and love. At the initial stage, it was opened as an institute of advanced education on April 26, 1955 and became a four-year formal college in 1959. In the 1960‘s , the corporate name was changed to Kwandong Educational Foundation, laying a cornerstone for rapid development. During this period, the Kwandong University Newspaper was first published.

1970 - 1980 (The period of growth)



From the 1970’s, Kwandong University made impressive progress and became one of the leading Christian universities in Korea. In 1972, Myongji Educational Foundation took over Kwandong College, thus paving the way for great development. In 1988, Kwandong College achieved the status of 'University' with the establishment of its Graduate School. In keeping with the general trends of globalization, Kwandong University developed sisterhood relationships with foreign Universities in Taiwan (1976), Japan(1983) and Canada(1989). KDU has contributed to the nation's industrial and educational development by enlarging its academic exchanges with foreign universities that produced men and women of ability and sincerity, able to cope with the ever - changing international environment.

1990 - 1999 (The period of expansion)



In the 1990’s, Kwandong University grew by leaps and bounds to become one of the most prestigious private universities in the mideastern part of the Korean Peninsula. In 1994, Kwandong Medical College was established for the first time in the Youngdong area. During this period, this University formed sisterhood relationships with Shanghai Teachers' University, China(1994), Heilongjiang University, China(1997) and Waynesburg College, the United States(1996). In 1998, KDU was chosen as the best private university in the National Evaluation of Colleges and Universities.

2000 - 2010 (The period of prosperity)



In preparation for the 21st century, Kwandong University formulated new developmental strategies for educational variety, specification, practicalization and localization so as to promote a more systematic and practical academic environment that turns out men and women of strong competitiveness who will stand out on the international stage. With its more than 40,000 alumni, KDU has developed into one of the world's most prestigious universities. Also, Kwandong University has established an open administrative system in which all its members can actively join various school activities. Now, KDU is flourishing as one of the best private universities in Korea, which will hopefully lead the way to the new East-Sea Era in the 21st century.
