Kore Ulusal Polis Teskilati (KNPA) Güney Kore'deki ilk ve tek polis organizasyonudur. Tamamen hükumet iradesindedir ve dogrudan Içisleri Bakani'na karsi sorumludur. Merkezi baskent Seul'de olmak üzere ülke çapinda 14 yerel teskilata bölünmüstür. 2004 yilinda yapilan analizlere göre hükümet ajanlari hariç toplam 96.000 kisi teskilatta görev yapmaktadir. Buna bagli olarak bu teskilata bagli olarak çalisan SWAT (Special Weapon Attack Team) birimi ise tehlikeli çatismalarda hedefe hizli ve pratik yollardan ulasmak için özel egitilmis birliklerdir. Ana misyonu anti-terör olan bu birim rehine kurtarma, agir silahlari saldirilari geri püskürtme konusunda uzmanlasmistir. Seul'de 4 ayri birim halinde çalisan bu birimin, bunlarin disinda Busan, Daegu, Incheon, Chungham, Jeonnam ve Jeju'da birer birimleri bulunmaktadir.

The Korean National Police Agency, or KNPA, is the only police organization in South Korea and is run under the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs. As a national police force it provides all policing services throughout the country. This differs from the situation in many countries including France, where policing is split between the National Police and Gendarmerie, and between countries such as the United States which have a layered system of National, State/Regional and/or local Law Enforcement organizations.

The NPA is headquartered in Migeun-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. The agency is divided into 14 local police agencies, including the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. Local police agencies are not independent of the national police. There were 96,000 police officers as of 2004[update].
