1994'te kurulan Kore Ulusal Denizcilik Müzesi, Kültürel Miras İdaresi vasıtasıyla Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı tarafından yönetilmektedir.

Müze kendini, büyüleyici sergiler ve çeşitli programlar sayesinde insanlara Kore'nin denizcilik mirasını tanıtmaya ve teşvik etmeye adamıştır.

Sergiler, Kore'nin geleneksel tekneleri, gemicilikle ilgili gelenek görenekler de dahil olmak üzere denizcilik kültürü ve Kore karasularından sualtı kültürel mirası göstermek için konusal olarak sunulmaktadır.

KNMM (Kore Ulusal Denizcilik Müzesi), Kore'de denizciliğe ait bilhassa ilk insanların meydana getirdiği sanat eserlerini sergilemek, döküman sağlamak, araştırmak, bir araya getirmek ve korumak için çaba gösterecektir.

Müze, içinde geçmişi ve hayallerimizi keşfedeceğimiz, denizin derinliklerine yolculuk yapacağımız bir yer olmaya devam edecektir.

Müze'nin sembolü, Jeseon Hanedanligi zamanında ünlü bir bilgin olan Sin Gyeong-Jun(1712-1782)'un çalışmalarında betimlenen "Sahu-seon"un çizimlerine dayanılarak taşarlanmıştır.

Biz, şimdiki zaman ile gelenek göreneklerimiz arasında bağ kurmak amacıyla silahsız bir irtibat gemisi olan "Sahu-seon"a karar verdik.

Introduction

Founded in 1994, the Korean National Maritime Museum is governed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism through its the Cultural Properties Administration.

The Museum is committed to promoting and presenting Korea's maritime heritage to people through stimulating exhibits and various programmes.

The exhibits are presented thematically to show underwater cultural heritage from the Korean waters and maritime culture including nautical traditions and Korean traditional boats, etc..

The KNMM will endeavour to preserve, document, study, collect and display artifacts of maritime interest in Korea.

The Museum will continue its voyage into our sea, in which we discover our dreams and history.
The Museum's symbol is a design based on the drawing of 'Sahu-seon', which was described in the works of Sin Gyeong-Jun(1712-1782), a famous scholar in the Jeseon Dynasty.

We chose the 'Sahu-seon', which was an unarmed liaison vessel, in order to connect our tradition and with the present.
