29 Nisan 1932 -- Yun Bong-gil Japon Imparatoru Hirohito'nun dogum gününü kutlamak için Sangay'da bir parkta bir araya gelen Japon yetkililere saldirdi. Koreli eylemci Japonya’nin Kore’yi sömürgelestirmesine karsi protesto olarak ögle yemegi kutularinin içerisine gizledigi iki adet bombayi kürsüye atarak yedi üst düzey askeri öldürdü.

29 Nisan 1975 -- Vietnam Savasi’ndan sonra Saigon’da ki Güney Kore elçiligi kapatilmstir.

29 Nisan 1978 -- Ülkenin ilk nükleer santrali Kori No. 1 ticari islemlere baslamistir.

29 Nisan 1991 -- Güney ve Kuzey Kore bayanlarindan olusan bir tenis takimi Japonya-Chiba’da dünya sampiyonlugu kazanirlar.

29 Nisan 1998 – Samsung sirketi 256MB’lik DRAM’i üretti ve bu alanda pazarda önemli bir yere sahip oldu.

30 Nisan 1946 -- Güney Kore’de askerlere Ingilizce ögretmek için ABD tarafindan Askeri Dil Okulu açildi. Açilisindan bes ay sonrada kapatilmistir.

30 Nisan 1951 -- Güney Kore Ulusal Toplulugu Savunma Kuvvetleri (Kuzey Kore’ye karsi olusturulan 500,000 acil durum kuvveti konusunda) konusunda bir açiklama yapar.

30 Nisan 1957 -- II.Dünya Savasi’ndan sonra yakalanan ve on yildan fazla bir süredir Tokyo hapishanelerinde tutulan Koreliler'in bir bölümü birakilmistir.

30 Nisan 1959 -- Seoul’un günlük gazetelerinden Kyunghyang Shinmun Güney Kore'nin rejimini elestirmistir ve bu yüzden yayimin durdurulmasi gündeme gelmistir.

30 Nisan 1966 -- Güney Kore Meksika'yla kültürel bir antlasma imzalamistir.

30 Nisan 1978 -- Güney Kore hükümeti, Güney Kore'nin karasulari olarak ülke kiyilarinin 12 deniz mili içindeki alanini kapsayan bir yasayi ilan etmistir.

30 Nisan 1982 -- Birlesmis Milletler Güney Kore'nin 12 deniz millik karasularini ve 200 mil alan içerisinde ülkenin balik avi yapmasini onaylar.

30 Nisan 1989 -- Joseon Hanedani krali Yeongchini'nin esi Lee Bang-ja vefat etmistir. Lee Bang-ja Japon kraliyet ailesinin bir üyesiydi.

30 Nisan 1992 –- Güney Kore Tanzanya ile diplomatik iliskiler kurmustur.

30 Nisan 1994 -- . Yeo Man-cheol ve ailesi(toplam 5 kisi) Kuzey Kore’yi terk ederek Güney Kore’ye göç etmislerdir.

30 Nisan 2003 -- Baskan Roh Moo-hyun yasalari ihlal etmekten suçlu bulunmus olan 1,424 mahkumun serbest birakilmasini saglamistir.

April 29

1932 -- Yun Bong-gil attacks Japanese officials at a park in Shanghai where they gathered to celebrate the birthday of then Japanese Emperor Hirohito. The Korean activist threw two bombs he had hidden in lunch boxes onto the podium, killing seven top Japanese military leaders, in protest against Japan's colonization of Korea. Yun was executed in Japan later that year.


1975 -- The South Korean Embassy in Saigon closes at the end of the Vietnam War.


1978 -- The country's first nuclear power plant, Kori No. 1, begins commercial operations.


1991 -- A unified women's table tennis team of South and North Korea wins the world championships in Chiba, Japan.


1998 -- Samsung Electronics Co. begins production of the 256MB DRAM chip, becoming the world's first producer of the sophisticated chip, causing a major impact on the global DRAM market.

1946 -- The Military Language School, established by U.S. forces stationed in South Korea to teach English to local soldiers, closes after about five months of operation. The school in western Seoul was also aimed at providing instruction on American military methods to South Korea, which had regained sovereignty from Japanese colonial rule the previous year.


1951 -- The South Korean National Assembly passes a bill to disband the homeland defense forces, an emergency force of 500,000 men drafted to fight North Korean communists. The forces were sent home on May 12 following criticism that they lacked sufficient leadership and military resources to operate efficiently.


1957 -- A group of Koreans who were held in Tokyo prisons for over a decade due to war crimes during World War II are released. They had been drafted by the Japanese colonial regime, mostly in the 1940s, to fight for Japan.


1959 -- The Kyunghyang Shinmun, a Seoul-based daily newspaper, is forced to stop publishing due to its criticism of South Korea's regime.


1966 -- South Korea signs a cultural treaty with Mexico.


1978 -- The South Korean government announces a law which designates all areas within 12 nautical miles of the country's coast as South Korea's territorial waters.


1982 -- The United Nations acknowledges South Korea's territorial waters within 12 nautical miles of the coast and its fishing waters within 200 miles of the coast.


1989 -- The wife of the Joseon Dynasty's King Yeongchin, Lee Bang-ja, passes away. She was originally a member of the Japanese royal family.


1992 -- South Korea establishes diplomatic ties with Tanzania.


1994 -- A five-member family, led by the father Yeo Man-cheol, defects from North Korea to South Korea.


2003 -- In honor of the inauguration of President Roh Moo-hyun, the government releases a total of 1,424 prisoners who had been convicted of violating labor laws.
