Dokuzuncu Talhaewang yılı ilkbaharıydı. Hogong sarayda geç saatlere kadar çalışmasının ardından evine dönüyordu. Eve gidebilmek için Banwolsong adındaki köyü geçmek zorundaydı. Köyün bitişiğinde Shileem dene bir orman vardı. Bu orman o kadar gürdü ki gündüz vakti bile korkunçtu. Bu yüzden, Hogong ormanı geçerken kendinisini çok yakından takip eden bir de köle aldı.
Öteki gün gibi, Hogong ormanı geçerken birazcık gergindi. Gece karanlığı çökmüş ve orman sessizdi ancak gökyüzünde fısıldaşan milyonlarca yıldız vardı. Ormanı aydınlatan ışık altın sandıktan geliyordu. Hayret verici olansa, sandığın bulunduğu ağacın altından başını çıkarmış çığlık çığlığa bağıran tavuktu. Bu tavuk kutsal değil mi? O halde altın sandıkta değerli şeyler olmalı. Hogong’un kalbi güm güm atıyordu. Bir an tereddüt etti ve saraya döndü. Krala bu durumu mümkün olduğunca çabuk anlatmaya karar verdi.
Talhaewang şansa uyumuyordu. Hogong’un geri dönmesini tuhaf karşılasa da hikâyeyi dinledikten sonra tavuk çığlığını kendisinin de duyduğunu anlattı. Böylece Hogong ile birlikte Shileem’e gitti. Orman boyunca devam eden mor bulutu gören Talhaewang, bunun ülke adına iyi haber olduğunu bildi. Öyle mutluydu ki, ne yapacağını bilemedi. Tavuk yine başını çıkarıp çığlık attı. Bir kez daha çığlık atıp göğe uçtu. Ak tavuğun gözden kaybolduğunu görünce Hogong’a, “Hogong, sadığı dikkatlice aşağı indir” dedi. Hogong, kölesine sandığı indirmesini emretti. Kral sandığı bizzat kendisi açtı. Sonra, göz kamaştırıcı parlak bir ışıkla birlikte sandıktan yakışıklı bir oğlan çıktı. Çocuk son derece sıradışıydı. Kral, çocuğa zevkle sarıldı. Hogong’a, “Bu bana Cannet’in hediyesidir.” dedi.
Gerçekte Kral’ın oğlu yoktu. Hogong kralların düşüncelerini anlayabilirdi. “Aynı kanaatteyim, majesteleri.” Hogong’tan bunu duyan Kral memnun oldu ve çocuğa siması Park Hyeook Geose’ye benzemesinden ötürü Alji adını verdi.
Alji, Korece’de bebek demektir. Alji’nin altın sandıktan çıkmasından dolayı soyadı Kim oldu. Neslinden gelenler ise bugünün Kyungjoo Kim’leridir. Shileem’e, Gaeleem dediler çünkü o orman ve tavukla bağlanmıştı. Alji ile Kral, yol boyu kendilerini hoplaya zıplaya keyifle takip eden kuşlarla ve hayvanlarla sarayın yolunu tuttu. Kral, Alji’yi tüm sevgisiyle büyüttü. Büyüdükçe akıllanıp bilgeleşen Alji, Kral’ın büyük sevgisini kazandı. En sonunda Kral, Alji’sini veliaht prens ilan etmek için uygun bir gün bakmaya başladı. Ancak Alji, kral olamayacak ikinci oğlana ödün verdi. Bu ise onun ne kadar yüce gönüllü olduğunu gösterir. Alji, sonraki krala hizmet etmekle yetindi. Bunun olaydan sonra Alji’nin yedinci nesline kadar, Kim soyundan Meechoo tahta oturtulmuş ve Sinra; Bak’ları, Suk’ları, Kim’leri kral yapmıştır. Alji’nin neslinden 30 tane kral çıkmıştır.

It was springtime in the ninth year of TALHAEWANG. HOGONG was coming home from working late at the palace. In order to get home he had to pass a village west of Banwolsong. Next to the village was a forest called Shileem and the forest was so thick it was scary even in the daytime. So when HOGONG had to pass this place at night he took a servant with him still quite uptight.
Like any other day, HOGONG was passing the Shileem a bit nervous. The night was deep and the forest silent, but millions of stars in the sky were whispering. HOGONG was thinking of what he was doing a little while ago at the palace. Then he heard a crying sound of a chicken from the silent forest. HOGONG turned and looked in the direction of Shileem. But he heard nothing. "Didn't you here something a little while ago?" HOGONG asked his servant not believing his ears. But the servant told him he had heard something and waited to hear it again. It was a strange thing. Hearing a chicken cry from the Sheelim! The people of SEORABEOL considered the Shilim an auspicious place because it was always foggy, and no one went in there. When HOGONG was thinking this, the chicken cried again. Only this time, the sound was much clearer and louder. At that moment HOGONG stopped and looked in the direction of the chicken sound. The black and scary Shileem was filled with bright light and there was a purple cloud above the forest. 'Something auspicious must be going on in there!'
HOGONG and his servant ran towards the Shileem, but this time HOGONG was stunned once again. There was a chest on the tree glowing in the clouds above the forest. The bright light that lit up the forest was coming from the golden chest. But the marvelous thing was a chicken crying with its neck sticking out under the tree the chest was on. Ah. Isn't that a heavenly chicken? Then there must be something precious in that golden chest. HOGONG's heart was beating. He paused for a moment and went back to the palace. He decided to tell the king about this as soon as possible.
TALHAEWANG was fortunately not sleeping until then. He thought it was strange that HOGONG had came back but after hearing the story, he told HOGONG that he also had heard the chicken cry. And then he left for Shileem with HOGONG. Seeing the purple cloud along the forest, TALHAEWANG knew at once that a happy event was in store for the country. He was so happy he didn't know what to do. Then the chicken sticked out his neck and cried once more flying up into the sky. After staring at the white chicken until it disappeared the king said "HOGONG, take the chest down carefully.". HOGONG had his servant take the chest down from the tree and the king opened it himself. Then a dazzling golden light came out from the chest, and a good-looking little boy stood up from the chest. He was such an extraordinary little boy. The king hugged the boy with his two arms with joy and told HOGONG,"This must be heaven's present to me."
In fact, the king had no son. HOGONG could understand the kings thoughts. "I agree, your highness." Hearing HOGONG say this the king was quite pleased and named the boy Alji since his way of appearance was similar to that of PARKHYEOKGEOSE; Bak called himself when he first came to the world.
Alji means 'baby' in Korean. Alji's family name was named Kim since he came out of a golden chest, and his descendents are today's Kyungjoo Kims. Sheeleem was called Gaeleem because it was connected with a forest and a chicken. The king headed towards the palace with Alji with birds and animals jumping and flying with joy as they followed the king. The king raised Alji up with all his heart. Alji became smart and wise as he grew up receiving the king's great love. The king finally was about to choose a good day and make him the crown prince, but Alji made a concession to the second son not becoming the king. This is how magnanimous he was. Alji just helped the next king as a helper. After that till Alji's seventh descendent, Meechoo, a Kim was enthroned and SINRA had Baks, Suks, Kims be king in turn from their on. Among them 30 of Alji's descendents became King.
