Gyeongpodae
Yi Hanedanlığı’nın ortasında Gangreungbusa diye işaret edilen Hangeub adında sessiz bir coğrafyacı varmış. Coğrafyada nasıl ustalaştığı ilginç bir hikâyedir. Hangeub gençken, Guri denen, ejder olabilmek için 10,000 bakir yılanla çiftleşmiş kocaman bir yılanla birleşmiş. Korkunun farkında olan Hangeub’un öğretmeni yılandan parça çalmasını istemiş. Parçayı ağzına almasını göğe ve yere bakmasını istemiş. Öğretmeninin dediğini yapmış. Ancak ağzındaki topla göğe bakmakta başarışız olmuş. Böylece coğrafyada usta olmuş ancak astronomide olamamış.
Hangeub Gangreung’a gelince zengin toprak sahipleri ona saygı göstermemiş ve kendisinin sinirlenmesine sebep olacak yeni yıla hediyesini sadece nüfuzlu ailelere göndermişler. Amatör bir falcı olarak, etrafa baktı ve nüfuzlu bir ailenin mezar alanından yayılan şansı söndürecek ve diğer toprak ağalarına ders verecek Gyeongpodae’yi inşa edecek bir yer buldu. Hangeub’un gelmesinden çok önce, ünlü bir rahip gelip ailenin kurucu babasının mezarını ayırt eder. Alandaki bin yıllık mantarın şansı yok edeceği konusunda onları uyarır.

In the middle of the Yi Dynasty, HANGEUB, who was appointed as GANGREUNGBUSA, was quite a geographer. How he got to master geography is an interesting story. While he was young, he mated with a GURI, a big snake waiting to become a dragon by mating with 10000 young male virgins. It was only one virgin short before turning into a dragon. HANGEUB's teacher, who was aware of the affair, advised him to steal the snake's cintamani, put it into his mouth, and look up the sky and down the earth. He did as his teacher told him, but failed to look up the sky with the ball in his mouth. That's how he got to master geography, but not astronomy.
When HANGEUB came to GANGREUNG, the rich land owners disregarded him and sent New Year's gift only to the influential families in Seoul, which made him angry. As an amateur geomancer, he looked around and found a place to build GYEONGPODAE, which would dissipate the auspiciousness of the grave site of an influential family and teach other landowners lessons. Long before HANGEUB's arrival, when a famous monk came and pick out a burial site for the founding father of a family, he cautioned them against thousand-year-old mushroom which would dissipate the luck the site carried.
Accordingly, the descendants of the family got rid of the mushrooms around the area.
A few years after GYEONGPODAE was built, the descendants came to suspect that it might be the thousand-year-old mushroom the monk had warned against, but they could not do anything about it because it was built by the local authority. As HANGEUB intended, the family's fortune waned, and eventually the family went down, they say.
