Kore yayı ('Hwal' ) bir subuffalosu boynuzdan yapılmış eğilen bir yaydır.
Daha erken kullanımda bu tür silahlardan 1900 CE ile standartlaştırılmıştır.
Bir başparmak çekilişiyle normal olarak kullanılır.
Gungsul genellikle goongsul olarak yazılır ve literatürde "yay sanatı" olarak anlamlandırılır. Genellikle geleneksel Kore okçuluğu olarak adlandırılır.
Yay, 1. yüzyıldan beri Çin Hanedanlığıyla ve göçebe insanlarla savaşlarda Korelilerin en önemli silahları oldu.
Efsaneye göre Gouryeo'nun kurucusu ve ilk kral Go Jumong bir ok ustasıydı bir okla 5 sineği yakalayabiliyordu. Silla'nın ilk kralı okçu ustası olarak anılırdı.
1899'da bir misafir Alman Prensi geleneksel okçuluk gösterisinde şaşkınlığını Gojong İmparatorluğu'na bildirir.
İmparator etkilenir, emir verir "tüm halk okçulukla fiziksel dayanıklılıklarını geliştirecek" ve okçuluk kulübünü kurar.
Kore okçuluğunun doğusunun akabinde, doğal yay ve ok standartlaştırıldı. Hedefe atış uzaklığı gibi.
Kore geleneksel okçuluğu şimdi kompozit yayın özel bir tipi kullanılıyor. Bambu oklar ve standart hedef 120 bo (yaklaşık 145 metre) olarak belirlendi.

The Korean Bow ('Hwal') is a waterbuffalo horn-based composite reflex bow, standardized about 1900 CE from the variety of such weapons in earlier use. It is normally used with a thumb draw.
Gungsul, also written goongsul, literally means "the Craft of the bow." It is also called Korean traditional archery.
The bow had been the most important weapon in Korean wars with Chinese dynasties and nomadic peoples, recorded from the 1st century BCE.[1]
Legend says the first king and founder of the Goguryeo, Go Jumong, was a master of archery, able to catch 5 flies with one arrow
In 1899, a visiting German prince expressed his astonishment to Emperor Gojong at a traditional archery demonstration.
The emperor, impressed, decreed "let people enjoy archery to develop their physical strength" and established an archery club building.
In the subsequent revival of Korean archery, the nature of the bow and the arrow was standardized, as was the range of the targets.
Korean traditional archery now uses one specific type of composite bow, bamboo arrows, and a standard target at a standard distance of 120 bo
(about 145 meters).
