Gossaumnori (Gossaum game) / 고싸움

Gossaum (고싸움) veya "İlmik Dövüşü" adı verilen bu oyun bir köye hastır. Verimlilik için, yılın ilk dolunayında birkaç gün boyunca bu oyun oynanır. İlk önce bir dua etme töreni yapılır ardından, köylüler köyün arka tarafında bulunan ve "Büyükbaba Ruhu" adini verdikleri tepeye giderler. Sonra da köyün ön tarafındaki "Büyükanne Ruhu" adini verdikleri tepeye giderler. Köyün hemen hemen her yerinde çiftçi dansları sergilenir. Sonraki gün, köy Gossaum’u oynamak için ikiye bölünür. Gossaum ilmik yapılmış kalın halatlarla (oyuna bu yüzden ilmik oyunu denir) ve bambu destek çubukları ile oynanır. Her takım kendisini fırsatçılardan korur. Oyunda amaç rakibin ilmiğini itmektir. Gossaum oyunu bir ulusal halk festivalinde ödül almıştır. 1970 yılında da ülkenin kültürel mirası içerisinde gösterildi. Oyun dayanışmayı ve memleket sevgisini temsil eder.

GO Fighting is a men's tough game mainly played in Jeollanam-do in the 15th of he New Year according to the lunar calendar. GO means round thick rope looks like coat string. And GO fighting means that 2 GOs fight each other.

The body of GO is made with lump of hawsers as thick as forearm. Large sticks are inserted in the lump of ropes for the stiffness. GO head and body are so big that people's two legs don't touch the ground when they sit on them. 7 to 8 tree stumps prop up GO when GOs run into each other. When GO is made, village people offer a sacrifice to spirits and tread on fields with going around the village. Before going to battlefield with shouldering GO, participants arouse village people's interest in the fighting with playing farm music. When 1 GO approaches to the other GO, they show their nerve with uplifting and bringing down GOs. When 1 GO presses down the other and the latter touches the ground, the game is over. But in case of close game, they try conclusions with tug-of-war on February 1.

Similar to tug-of-war, GO Fight is one of farming ceremonies for praying for good harvest. Through the game, village people used to consolidate unity and cooperative spirit.
