Bu evde Joseon Hanedanlığı döneminde hem bilim insanı hemde bir ressam olan Yun Du-seo (takma adı: Gongjae, 1668-1715) yaşadı.

Gyeomjae Jeong Seon ve Sim Sa jeong (takma adı: Hyeonjae) ile birlikte Yun Seon-do (takma adı: Gosan, 1587-1671)'nun torunu olan Yun Du-seo Joseon Hanedanlığının önde gelen üç ressamından biri oldu ayrıca Du-seo bir süre sivil bakanı görevini yürüttü.

Yun Seon-do feng shui'e göre evi elverişli bir alana inşa etti fakat denizden gelen kuvvetli rüzgarlar sebebiyle evi günümüzde ki konumuna taşıdı böylece torunu Yun Du-seo bu bölgede yaşadı.

Evin kesin yapılış tarihi bilinmemektedir ancak Kral Hyeonjong'un saltanatının 11.yılında (1670) inşa edilmiş; Yun Du-seo evde yaşadıktan sonra Kral Sunjo'nun saltanatının 11.yılında (1811) ise tamir edilmiştir.

Evde 48 kan (iki sütun arasındaki mesafe ölçü birimi), sarangchae (erkek bölümü), anchae (kadın bölümü), depo, ahır ve bir anıt bulunmaktadır.

Evin anchae (kadın bölümü) kısmında köşeli ayraç şeklinde "人" bir beşik çatı vardır.

Kuzeybatısında yer alan depo binasının güney tarafının ön kısmında yamuğu andıran bir sağrı çatı bulunur.

Denizden gelen rüzgarların etkisini önlemek için çatılar aşağı doğru eğilimli şekilde inşa edilmiştir.

Ev Joseon Hanedanlığı'nın mimari tekniklerini göstermektedir.

Description

Legend has it that Yun Du-seo (pen-name: Gongjae, 1668-1715), a painter and a scholar during the late Joseon Dynasty, used to live at this house.

One of the three leading painters of the late Joseon Dynasty along with Gyeomjae Jeong Seon and Sim Sa-jeong (pen-name: Hyeonjae), Yun Du-seo was a great-grandson of Yun Seon-do (pen-name: Gosan, 1587-1671), who was a civil minister during the mid-Joseon Dynasty.

Yun Seon-do built this house on a propitious site according to feng shui but moved to another place due to strong winds blowing from the sea; thus, his great-grandson Yun Du-seo lived here.

Its exact construction date is not known, but this house was built during the 11th year of King Hyeonjong’s reign (1670); Yun Du-seo later lived at this house, which seems to have been repaired in the 11th year of King Sunjo’s reign (1811).

At the time of its construction, the house measured 48 kan (a unit of measurement referring to the distance between two columns) including the gate quarters and sarangchae (men’s quarters), but only the anchae (women’s quarters), a repository building, a barn, and a shrine remain.

The square bracket-shaped anchae has a gable roof with “人”-shaped sides.

The southern side of the repository building located northwest has a hip roof looking like trapezoid on the front side.

To prevent the influence of winds from the sea, the roof was built downward, not high.

This historic house shows the architectural techniques of the late Joseon Dynasty.
