Choe Jong-bok ev evinin çatısı ile geleneksel bir alt sınıf ikamet olduğunu gösteriyor. Wanggok köyü evlerinde barınak olması için ön cephe eklenmiştir. Bu bölgesel gelenek ihtiyaç, sert kış havaları yerli hayvanları korumak için vardır. Evin hanımı ev işlerinde ve mutfakta kapalı bir ortamda bulunmaktadır. Karakteristik olarak da erkekler çeyrek evin karsısında sonunda mümkün olduğunca mutfaktan uzak durur bu durum cinsiyetler arasında bir ayrıma neden olur. Görünüş olarak yerel modadır. Buna karşılık olarak dar arka bahçesi tamamen surlarla çevrilidir.

The Choe Jong-bok house is a traditional lower-class residence with a thatched roof. Like most houses in Wanggok village, a lean-to barn is attached to the front facade. This regional tradition evolved from the need to protect domestic livestock from the harsh winter weather. Animals could be kept indoors within sight of the kitchen, where the lady of the house could attend to domestic chores. Characteristically, the men's quarters are at the opposite end of the house as far from the kitchen as possible, maintaining a distinction between the sexes. In characteristic local fashion, the front yard is completely open to the street without any walls separating it from the road. In contrast, the narrow rear yard is completely surrounded by walls.
