Uzun uzun zaman önce, bir Kral, Cennet'e (Tanrı'ya) öfkelenediği için kurban ayinini gerçekleştirmeyi ihmal etmiş. Tanrı da ona öfkelendiği için Krallığı mahvetmeye Baekdu Dağı'nın aşığışına inmiş.
Dağın doruğunda öfkelendigi zaman suya güç uygulayıp yol yaptı ve bir çöküntü ya da göl oluşturdu ki onun sonraki adı 천지 (çokci)dir. Su bölündü ve iki yol bularak dağın aşağısına aktı. Biri doğuda diğeri batıda. Her ikisi de Dumangang ve Aprokgang'ı oluşturdu.

Long long time ago a king neglected performing sacrificial rites for the Heaven, who got enraged with him and in an attempt to destroy the kingdom came down to Mt.BAEKDU.
He pissed on the highest summit of the mountain, which gave way under the force of the water and formed a depression or lake, which was later named 천지. The water split and flew down the mountain in two directions, one to the East, the other to the West, forming DUMANGANG and APROKGANG each.
