Puchon Filarmoni, Kore'de en ünlü orkestraları biridir ve 1997'den beri Puchon Fantastik Film Festivali'ne ev sahipliği yapmıştır.Burada İngiliz Nicolas Young ve onun Koreli eşi Lia tarafından yönetilen Cafe Nicolia severleri bulabilirsiniz.
Geniş Cafe Nicolia'nın, (Seoul standartlarına göre) Fransız sigaralarının baskın kokusu olmadan bir cazibesi ve bir Fransız cafe samimiyeti vardır. Bej renkli duvarları süsleyen orijinal sanat eserleri ile, kabin ile birleştirilmiş ferforje ahşap yüzeyli tabloların bir karışımı, açık masa ve teras oturma alanları ile gerçekten otantik kozmopolit tarzda samimiyeti vardır.
Menü, detaylara dikkat eden Nicolas ve Lia'nın kendi vizyonunu yansıtmaktadır. Ama bununla da bitmiyor, Cafe Nicolia kaliteli yemekler tadabileceğiniz bir yerden biraz daha fazlasıdır. Çok çeşitli konulardaki kitaplara ayrılmış bir kütüphane bulunmakta. Benim orada olduğum gece, piyano resitalleri gerçekleştirerek yerel müzisyenler incelikte bulundu. Özel şarap ve düzenli bir şekilde peynir tatma olayı hakkında bilgilendirildim.

İçecekler de güzel, Stella Artois gibi bir bira seçimi ile, Heineken ve Bierra Morietti ve Beaujolais şarapları (Fransa) ve Jacobs Creek'in yanı sıra (hoş bir Avustralya üzüm bağı), kokteyller ve kahveler ile seçimlerim için şımartıldım.

Cafe Nicolia'nın açılması ardındaki neden sorulduğunda, Nicolas; "Eşim ve ben her zaman yemek,
şarap, seyahat, kitap ve Avrupa tarzı kafelere tutkunuzdur. Dahası, Korelilerin eğitim ve Avrupa'daki tatilleri ile zamanlamanın doğru olduğunu hissettik" diye açıkladı.

Cafe Nicolia 09:00 'dan 23:30' a, Pazartesi'den Perşembe'ye, 09:00-00:30'a kadar açıktır. Hafta sonları ve Pazar günleri 10:30- 22:30'a kadar açıktır.

Physically, culturally and climatically, Seoul is about as far away from the Mediterranean as you’re likely to get. Before Guus Hiddink coached the national football team in 2002, just about anything remotely European (with the exception of pizza) was almost unheard of. Fortunately times have changed.

Puchon, located between Seoul and Inchon, is gaining a reputation as a cultural center of metropolitan Seoul. The Puchon Philharmonic is one of the most famous orchestras in Korea and since 1997 the city has been the home of the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival. It’s here where you’ll find the likes of Cafe Nicolia, managed by Englishman Nicolas Young and his Korean wife Lia.
The spacious (by Seoul standards) Cafe Nicolia has all the charm and friendliness of a French cafe without the overpowering aroma of French cigarettes.
With original works of art adorning beige colored walls, a mixture of wrought iron wooden topped tables combined with booth, open table and patio seating areas, there is a genuine sense of authentic cosmopolitan-style intimacy.
The menu reflects the attention to detail that Nicolas and Lia have invested in their vision. But it doesn’t stop there. Cafe Nicolia is a little more than a place to sample fine cuisine.
There’s also a dedicated library housing books from a broad range of topics. On the night I was there, the entertainment was courtesy of local musicians performing piano recitals. I was informed that there are special wine and cheese tasting events on a regular basis.

The food menu is typically Mediterranean with a large selection of healthy and light pasta/rice and salad dishes to choose from. For a main course, you can’t go past the Moule (with wine, cream and garlic served on a fresh baguette). For soup, try the French onion with melted cheese and croutons.
Starters include bruschetta, honey roasted vegetables and tapas, and sandwiches such as chicken panini and caprese, followed by an equally impressive selection of cakes and pastries.
Drinks are fine too. With a choice of beers such as Stella Artois, Lowenbrau, Heineken and Bierra Morietti and wines from Beaujolais (France) and Jacobs Creek (a fine Australian vineyard), plus a range of cocktails and coffees, I was spoilt for choice.
When asked about the motivation behind opening Cafe Nicolia, Nicolas explained, ``My wife and I have always been passionate about food, wine, travel, books and European style cafes. With more Koreans studying and vacationing in Europe, we felt the timing seemed right.’’

Cafe Nicolia is open from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. weekends and 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sundays.
