Byeokdong Mueonrl
Byeokngdonggol’da Biraebong dağı vardır. Muonrl, insanlar şöyle dursun ağaçlar ve otların dahi yaşamadığı ancak kolayca yerleşilebilecek bir köyün bulunduğu dağ eteği seviyesidir. Bu bölgeyi kazan kimseler yörede eskiden çok kimsenin yaşadığını kanıtlayan değirmentaşları gibi çeşitli ev aletleriyle karşılaşabilirler. Denildiğine göre burada aslında yaz ortasında tipiyle yıkılan Mueonrl adında bir köy vardı. Yokoluşu ilginçtir.
Uzun zaman önce Ganggye’de soyadı Gang olan bir adam vardı. HwangHaedo’ya gitti ve iş kurup gezgin tüccarlarla çalışmak için bir hana yerleşti. Han sahibi da aynı soydan gelen Gang idi. Dahası ikisi de aynı gün, aynı saatte doğmuştu.
Birgün, han sahibi hasta düştü ve hastalığına çare kimse yok gibiydi. Ölümünü bekliyordu. Geceleyin öteki Gang uyandı ve han sahibinin karısını şu şekilde dua ederken buldu:
“Kocam ve tüccar aynı gün aynı ve zamanda doğdular. Lütfen kocamın canı yerine onun canını al.”
Gang gerildi ve hastalanıp öldü. Diğer Gang ise sağlığına kavuştu. Gang, öteki dünyaya intikal ettiğinde, Sahip dedi ki:
“Verdiğim emir Hwanghaedo’da yaşayan Gang içindi. Sen kazara geldin, şimdi hayata geri dön.”
Gang salıverildi ve oradan gitmek için etrafına bakınmaya karar verdi. Öteki dünyada gezerken hararetlice konuşmaya dalmış dağ tanrılarının bulunduğu bir gruba rastgeldi. Duydu ki, Biraebonglu tanrı Mueonrl’den yakınıyor. Tanrı, dağ eteğine yerleşip çevreyi tahrip eden 300 hanelik köyün canını sıktığından bahsediyordu. Öteki tanrı, yaz ortasında köye sert tipi yollayıp köyü yıkmasını önerdi. Tipi, köydeki her canlıyı donduracaktı ve o zaman insanlar dağ tanrısını bir daha kızdıramayacaktı. Gang, tanrıların ne konuda tartıştıklarını duyuktan sonra yaşama geri döndü ve diğer Gang öldü. Canlı Gang eve dönerken Biraebong’a geldi. Geleceklerinden endişe duymayan ve rutin hayatlarına devam eden köylülerin bulunduğu Mueonrl’ye gitti. Yaklaşan felaketten onları kurtarmak umuduyla, öteki dünyada duyduklarını anlattı. Haziran’ın 15’inde sert bir tipinin geleceğini, tahıllarını dondurup köylüleri öldüreceğini, eğer hayatta kalmak istiyorlarsa köyü boşaltmaları gerektiğini söyledi. Bununla birlikte köylüler, adamın sözlerine garip diye değer vermedi ve oralı olmadılar. Tipi onları sürpriz bir şekilde yuttu. Bu nedenle Mueonrl’de ne ağaç ne de çim bulunur.

Byeokdong Mueonrl
There is a mountain named BIRAEBONG in BYEOKNGDONGGOL. MUEONRL is a level ground on its mountainside, which could easily accommodate a village but that there are no people living on it, let alone trees or grass. Digging the ground in this area, however, people may come up with various tools including millstones, which suggests that people might have inhabited this area a long time ago. It is said that there was actually a village in MUEONRL, which was destroyed by a snowstorm in the middle of summer. How it disappeared is an interesting story.
Long time ago in GANGGYE was a man, whose last name was GANG. He went to HWANGHAEDO to start a business and settled in one of the inns for travelling salesmen. The keeper of the inn, however, happened to be a GANG himself with the same family origin. Moreover, they were born at the same time on the same day, which brought them close.
One day, the innkeeper fell ill and there seemed to be no remedy for his illness. He was only waiting for his death. One night the other GANG woke up to find the innkeeper's wife praying,
"My husband and the salesman were born at the same time on the same day. Please take his life instead of my husbands'."
GANG felt uneasy at this and fell ill himself and died, while the other GANG recovered from his illness. When GANG was taken to the Underworld, the King of the Underworld said,
"I sent for another GANG , who lives in HWANGHAEDO. You came here by mistake. Go back to life."
He was released and he decided that he would look around before leaving. Traveling around the Underworld, he ran into a group of mountain gods, who were engaged in a serious talk. He overheard a god from BIRAEBONG complaining about MUEONRL. The god said that the 300 houses settled on the mountainside were destroying the environment, which bothered him a lot. Another god suggested destroying the village by triggering a heavy snowstorm in the middle of summer. The snowstorm would freeze everything alive in the village, and then people would not bother the mountain god again. After GANG heard what the gods were discussing, he came back to life, and the other GANG died. On his way home, GANG came to pass BIRAEBONG. He found his way to MUEONRL, where he found the villagers, who suspected nothing for their future, leading an ordinary life. In the hope to save them from the coming disaster, he told them what he heard in the Underworld. He said that there would be a heavy snowstorm on the 15th of June, which would destroy their crops and freeze people to death, and that they should evacuate their village to avoid the disaster. The villagers, however, dismissed his words as absurd, and paid no heed. So the snow took them by surprise. Crops were destroyed, the villagers were frozen to death, and the village disappeared under the snow. That's why no tree or grass is found in MUEONRL.
