Busan Bienali 2000 yılından bu yana her iki yılda bir düzenlenen büyük ölçekli bir sanat sergisi. Busan Bienali'nin amacı uluslararası düzeyde yerel sanatları tanıtmanın yanı sıra modern sanatları da halka tanıtmak için hazırlanmıştır. 2004 yılında bir milyondan fazla insan, modern sanatın mevcut ve gelecekteki durumunu izlemek için bir dayanak noktası olarak, Busan Bienali’ni ziyaret etti. 2006 Busan Bienali sırasında,40 ülkeden yaklaşık 280 sanat eseri sergilendi.

2012 Busan Bienali Busan Sanat Müzesi ve çevresinde 24 Kasım ile 22 Eylül tarihleri arasında yapıldı. Bu yılki tema "Bilginin Bahçesi" toplum etkileşimi ve sanatın değer kazanması yoluyla Busan'ın tarihinin ve kültürünün daha derin bir anlam kazanması umuluyor. Ayrıca "Bilginin Bahçesi" başlıklı ana sergi Busan Sanat Müzesi'nde gerçekleştirilecek. Ortalama bir Bienal ile karşılaştırıldığında 41 sanatçıyla nispeten daha az kişiden oluşmaktadır. yapılan serginin amacı, modern fikirleri yeniden değerlendirmek, sanat galerileri tarafından sanat ve sanatçılar sayesinde toplumun gelişmesine ve eğitilmesine fırsatlar sunmaktır.

Yarışmayı kazanan acemi küratörler Busan genelinde sergilere ev sahipliği yapacak. Ayrıca, yardımcı eğitim programları Busan'ın tarihinin yanı sıra modern durumunu da ele alacak. Bu sergilerin yanı sıra, çeşitli festivaller ve etkinlikler organizatörlerin, katılımcıların, sanatçıların ve müşterilerin birbirleriyle iletişime geçme alanları olarak hizmet edecektir.

Introduction

The Busan Biennale is a grand-scale art exhibition, which has been held every two years since the beginning of 2000. The purpose of the Busan Biennale is to promote local art on an international level as well as to promote modern art to area locals. In 2004, over 1 million people visited the Busan Biennale, solidifying the exhibition as a mainstay for viewing the current and future state of modern art. During the 2006 Busan Biennale, approximately 280 art pieces from about 40 countries were exhibited.

The 2012 Busan Biennale runs from September 22nd through November 24th at the Busan Museum of Art and surrounding areas. This year’s theme “Garden of Learning” hopes to garner a deeper understanding of Busan’s history and culture through community interaction and appreciation of art. The main exhibition also titled “Garden of Learning” will be held at the Busan Museum of Art. Comprised of 41 artists, a relatively small amount compared to your average biennale, the exhibition will aim to reevaluate the modern idea of art galleries by presenting itself as an opportunity for community development and education through its art and artists.

Selected as contest winners, many rookie curators will be hosting exhibitions throughout Busan. Also, auxiliary educational programs will focus on Busan’s history as well as its modern state. Alongside these exhibitions, various festivals and events will serve as spaces where organizers, participating artists, and patrons can communicate with one another.
