Baramgot / 바람곶

Kore müzik topluluğu Baramgot, müzisyenler tarafından bestelenen müzik ile geleneksel eserleri canlandırmayı hedeflemektedir. Baramgot’un beş sanatçısı, estrümanların yaratıcı bir entegrasyonu ile yeni bir müzik, performans süreci ve oluşum ortaya koymaktadır.

Korece’de Baramgot, “rüzgar” anlamına gelen “baram” ile “harman” anlamındaki “got” kelimelerinin birleşmesiyle oluşmuştur. Bu ad, Kore müziği ve sahnede halkı uyandırması ile ilişkili olarak kendi eşsiz artistik seslerine dikkat çekmesi için grup tarafından konmuştur. 2008 yılında resmi olarak bir albüm yayınlayan grup, Kore müziğini ve sanatını hareketlendirmek ve Kore kültürüne yabancı olanların deneyim kazanmalarını sağlamak için gösterilerini mükemmel hale getirmeye başlamıştır.

Baramgot’un müziği, üç geleneksel Kore müziği türüne dayanmaktadır:

- Sanjo; mükemmel bir enstrümanla solo bir tür,
- Snawi; heterefonik ve doğaçlama bir müzik topluluğu,
- Gut; şaman ayinlerinin, festivallerinin ve tedavilerinin müziği.

Baramgot müziğinin ana motifi, Kore geleneksel mitolojisinden, efsanelerinden ve Prens Bari’nin Büyük Yolculuğu gibi halk hikayelerinden gelmektedir. Baramgot, müziğini sahnelediği zaman müzikleri, dans ile bir müzik dilini temsil eden sesler, görsel ögeler ve aydınlatma ile müzikal bir oyun özelliği taşımaktadır.

Oluşum için sıçrama tahtası olarak zengin kültürel kökleri kullanan Baramgot, Kore mirasının tınısını modern müziğe dönüştürmektedir. Baramgot’un yaşayan ve güçlü müziği, hem yerli hem de uluslar arası dinleyicilerin dikkatini çekmiş ve gösterileri pek çok ülkede olumlu eleştiriler almıştır.

Korean music ensemble Baramgot aspires to revive and transmit the traditional practice by which musicians compose music through the act of performance. The five players of Baramgot, in an intense pursuit of delicate and precise sonorities, craft new music through an imaginative integration of instruments, performance process and creation.

Baramgot in Korean is a compound formed of ‘baram’ meaning ‘wind’, and ‘got’ meaning ‘cape’, this name being chosen by the group for capturing their own unique artistic voice with two words quintessentially associated with Korean music and an arousing public response on stage. Officially announcing an album in 2008, the group has embarked on perfecting their performances for global audiences so that Korean music and the arts can become a moving, touching experience for those unfamiliar with Korean culture.

Baramgot’s music is based on three traditional Korean music genres:

- Sanjo, the ultimate instrumental solo genre
- Sinawi, a heterophonic and improvisational ensemble music, and
- Gut, the music of shaman rituals, festivals and healing.

The main motif of Baramgot’s music comes from korean traditional myths, legends and folk tales such as the Great Journey of Princess Bari. When Baramgot put this music on stage, their music features a musical play, where sounds represent a musical language with dance, images, lighting and art combined to create a visual genre reinforcing the musical theatre.

Using these rich cultural roots as a springboard for creation, Baramgot has transformed the sonic resonance of Korean heritage into modern music. The living and powerful music of Baramgot has caught the attention of both domestic and international audiences and their performances have received rave reviews in many countries.
