Angbuilgu (Güneş Saati) / 앙부일구

"Angbuilgu" Joseon krallığı döneminde bilim adamları Jang Yeong Sil, Yi Cheon ve Kim Jo tarafından yapılan güneş saatleri arasında görebildiğimiz güneş saatidir. Bu güneş saati; plakasının demir çömlek gibi çentilmesi ve gökyüzüne bakar gibi görünmesi nedeniyle bu şekilde adlandırılmıştır.

Dünyanın yuvarlak şeklini betimler, küçük boyutuyla bile zaman ve mevsimi açıklamada çok kullanışlıdır. Çapı 35,2 cm ve yüksekliği 14 cm'dir ve 17. yüzyılın son yarısında üretilmiştir. Küçük olan güneş saatinin ise çapı 24.3 cm'dir ve 18. yüzyılın ilk yarısında üretilmiştir. Güneş saati plakasında 7 dikey çizgi ve 13 de yatay çizgi vardır. Önceki; zamanı ve mevsim çizgilerini gösterir.

Çizgiler üzerindeki gölgeyi gözlemleyerek güneşin doğudan doğup batıdan battığı hareketlerini görebilirsiniz. Her mevsimde gün içerisinde güneşin farkli yüksekliğine göre çizgilerdeki gölge değişimini gözlemleyerek yılın 24 bölümünü görebilirsiniz.

Okuma yazma bilmeyen insanlar için plakanın üzerine 12 harf yerine 12 koruyucu hayvan koyularak zamanın gösterilmesi dikkate değer bir fikirdir. Dahası, sadece sarayda bulunmakla kalmayıp, Jongro ve Jongmyo'nun Hyejoenggyo'su gibi halk yerlerinde de vardır ki bu ilk halk saati olduğunu gösterir.

Changdeokgung'da bulunan iki güneş saati dört bacaklı küçük girintili demir çömlek şeklindedir ve zarif biçiminden gurur duyar. Bu ikisi üretim şekil ve yöntem olarak aynıdır. Eşsiz ve benzersiz yapım şeklinden dolayı diğer sanat çalışmaları ile kolaylıkla mukayese edilebilir. Gövdesi bronzdan yapılmış ve siyaha boyanmıştır. Harfleri ve yazıları gümüş işlemelidir. Dahası, çapraz biçimli bacaklar dengeyi tutar. Bu Joseon krallığının temsili güneş saatidir ve bilimsel kültürel değere sahip olması açısından önemlidir.

"Angburilgu" is the two sundials still we can see among sundials that were made by three scientists of Joseon kingdom Jang Yeong Sil, Yi Cheon, and Kim Jo in 1437, the 19th year of King Sejong. It is named like this because the plate of sundial is dented such as an iron pot and seems like looking up at the sky. It represents the round shape of the earth, is very useful to express time and season even with its small size. Large one has a 35.2 cm diameter and 14 cm height and was produced in the latter half of the 17th century while small one has a 24.3 cm diameter and produced in the first half of the 18th century. There are seven vertical lines and 13 horizontal lines on dented plate of the sundial. The former represents the time line and the latter seasonal line.

One can see time by observing the shadow on the lines that sun's movement rising from the east and sinking to the west. One can also see the 24 divisions of the year by observing the changes of shadow on the lines due to different altitude of the sun at noon in each season. And it is very remarkable idea that they indicate time by substituting 12 letters on the plate to 12 animal guardian deities for the illiterate people. In addition, it was placed not only in the royal palace but also in public place such as Hyejoenggyo of Jongro and Jongmyo which means that it was the first public clock. Two sundials preserved in Changdeokgung are the shape of the small dented iron pot with four legs and boast of its graceful figure. These two have same manufacturing style and technique. It can easily stand comparison with other works of art because of its delicate and unique way of making. Its body is made of bronze and painted in black and its letters and lines are inlaid with silver. And it has the cross-shaped legs to keep the balance. This is the representative sundial of Joseon kingdom and valuable relic as the scientific cultural assets.
