El Sistema’nın Kurucusu 2010 Seoul Barış Ödülünü Kazandı
Seoul Barış Ödülü Komitesi bu yılki ödül için Venezuelalı ekonomist ve müzisyen Jose Antonio Abreu ‘yu seçti. Abreu, 1975 yılında ”Toplu Müzik Hareketi” veya ”Venezuele Çocuk ve Geçlik Orkestrası” olarak bilinen El Sistema’yı kurdu. Çoğunlukla fakir bir sosyoekonomik kökenden gelen gençlere gelecekte daha iyi bir çevrede yaşama imkanı sunmaya çalışan rehberlik programlarına katkıda bulunmak için koşuşturmaktadır. Abreu 27 Ocak tarihinde, Seou’de 200.000 Amerikan doları ödül alacak.

The Seoul Peace Prize Committee picks Venezuelan economist and musician Jose Antonio Abreu as this year’s winner on Sept. 27. Abreu founded El Sistema, called “Social Action for Music,” or “National Network of Youth and Children’s Orchestras of Venezuela,” in 1975. Abreu has run the program for several decades, contributing to guiding youth, mostly from poor socioeconomic backgrounds, to a better environment for their future. He will receive a prize of US$200,000 at the awards ceremony set for Oct. 27 in Seoul.
