Walkerhill (Yaya Tepesi)’nin arkas�ndaki Acha Da��’n�n zirvesi, u�an ejfer at�n�n YONGMA Da��’d�r, derler. Bu, Yi Hanedanl��’ndan �nce oldu. Han Nehri �zerindeki GWANGNARU, BAEKJE ile GOGURYEO aras�nda s�n�r �izgisiydi. BAEKJE’de, bir herk�l�n do�ar do�maz �ld�r�ld�� zaman�n biriydi.

Da��n a�a��s�ndaki k�yl�lerden birinin bir o�lu olmu�tu. Annesi do�umun ard�ndan ona ilk �orbas�n� i�irdi, d��ar� ��kt�. Daha sonra d�nd��nde bebe�i kaybolmu�tu.

“Bebek nerede? �ok tuhaf.” dedi. Odaya bak�nd� ve bebe�in tavan aras�nda oynad��n� g�rd�. Kimse bebe�in oraya nas�l ��kt��n� bilemedi. Bebe�e yak�ndan bakt��nda, bebe�in koltuk alt�nda kanatlar� oldu�unu fark etti. Bunu g�r�nce akl� ba��ndan gitti, kocas�na:

“Bebek kendi kendine tavan aras�na u�mu�. Ne yapmal�y�z?”

Kocas�:

“Bu bebek ailemize felaket getirecek. Bebekten haberdar olduklar�nda hepimiz �lm�� say�l�r�z.”

Durumu tart��t�lar ve bebekten kurtulmaya karar verdiler. Da��n zirvesinde u�an bir ejder at�n�n belirmesinden sonra bebe�i de�irmen ta��n�n alt�na koyup �lene dek bo�dular. O zamandan beri, insanlar bu da�a YONGMA Da�� derler. (YONG, �ngilizce’de bir ejder ve MA da bir att�r.)

The highest summit of Mountain Acha behind Walkerhill is Mountain YONGMA, where a dragon-horse flew, they say. It happened way before the Yi Dynasty.

GWANGNARU on the Han River was the border between BAEKJE and GOGURYEO. In BAEKJE, there was once a period during which a Hercules was killed as soon as he was born.

One of the villagers under the mountain gave birth to a boy. The mother had her first soup after the birth, she went out for a while, and later she found that her baby was missing.
"Where is the baby?, It's so strange."

said she, and looked around the room, and spotted the baby playing on the attic. Nobody knew how the baby got up there. When she took a close look at the baby, there, wings were under his armpits. She was overwhelmed at this, and said to her husband,
"The baby flew up on the attic for himself, and what shall we do?"

The husband said,
"This baby will bring calamity upon our family. When they find out, we are all as good as dead."

They discussed the matter and decided to get rid of the baby. They put the baby under the millstone, and suffocated him to death, after which a dragon-horse was sighted flying over the top of the mountain. Since then, people call this mountain the YONGMA Mountain (YONG is a dragon in English, and MA a horse).

Kral ve t�m memurlar� kay�kla GANGHWA’ya do�ru yola ��kt�lar. Kral’a e�lik eden kay�k��n�n ad� Sondol idi. GANGHWA yolunda ilerlerken s�rat noktas�na geldiler. G�r�n��e g�re kurtulma �anslar� yoktu. Kral kay�k��dan ��phelendi. “Bana ihanet etmi� olabilir.” diye d��nd�. Hemen orac�kta kay�k��n�n ba��n�n kesilmesini emretti. Sondol idam�ndan �nce bir dilekte bulunmak istedi. Dedi ki: “�lmeden �nce son bir dile�im var. L�tfen dile�imi yerine getirin.”

Kral sordu:
“Dile�in nedir?”

Sondol dedi:
“E�er bana inanm�yorsan�z, beni �ld�r�n. Bununla birlikte, e�er bu �l�m noktas�ndan kurtulmak istiyorsan�z beni dinleyin. Kay��n �n�ne bir su kaba�� koyun ve onu takip edin. ��k�� yolunuzu bulacaks�n�z.”

Sondol s�zlerini bitirir bitirmez kafas� kesildi. Onun �l�m�nden sonra Kral, Sondol’un dedikleriniz hat�rlad�. O ne dediyse yapt�. Suyun �st�ne �abucak y�z�p giden bir su kaba�� koydurdu. Kay��na su kaba��n� takip ettirdi ve kendini emin yerde buldu. “Yaz�k! Ben ne yapt�m?” Kral hatas�n� anlad� ve Sondol’a yak��r bir cenaze t�reni d�zenledi. S�rat noktas�na Sondol dendi ve o g�nden beri de SondolMok diye an�l�r. Sondol, insanlar�n mezar�na ilgi g�sterdi�i, her y�l kameri 20 Ekim’de onun ad�na festival d�zenledikleri Kimpo’daki bir tepede yak�ld�.

“Y�l�n Ba�l� DONDAE”, Sondol’un kahramanca �l�m� �zerine “Ejder Ba�l� DONDAE” �eklinde de�i�tirildi. Sondol’un y�l d�n�mlerindeki ekim ay�nda so�uk bir hava dalgas� eser. �nsanlar buna Sondori R�zgar� der. ��nk� bu r�zgara ve so�u�a onun haks�z yere �l�m�n�n sebep oldu�una inan�rlar.

When Mongolians invaded GORYEO, the court decided to transfer the capital to GANGHWA.

The King, with all his officials, was on his way to GANGHWA on a boat. The ferryman who accompanied the King was named Sondol. On their way to GANGHWA, they came to the neck of the rapids, and there they were stuck with no way out in sight. The King got suspicious of the ferryman, thinking to himself 'he might have betrayed me'. He ordered the ferryman decapitated right on the spot, when Sondol asked a favor before his execution. He said,

"I have one final wish before I die. Please let my wish be filled."

The King said,
"What is your wish?"

Sondol said,
"If you don't believe me, kill me. However, if you want to get out of this deadend, listen to me. Put down a gourd in front of the boat, and follow it, and you will find your way out."

No sooner had Sondol finished his words than his head was cut. After he died, the King reconsidered what Sondol said, and did exactly as he told. He had a gourd dropped on the water, which floated away swiftly. He had his boat follow the gourd, and found himself out of the harm's way. "Alas, what have I done?" The King realized his mistake, and gave Sondol a proper funeral. The neck of the rapids was named after Sondol, and since then has been called SondolMok.

Sondol was buried on a hill in Kimpo, where people take good care of his tomb and perform a religious service on his anniversary, October 20th in the lunar calendar.

The name 'snake-head DONDAE' was changed to 'dragon-head DONDAE' to celebrate Sondol's heroic deed. There used to be a cold wave in October around Sondol's anniversary. People call the cold wave Sondori Wind because they believe that Sondol's unfair death causes the wind and the cold wave.

“Acha Da��” ard�nda ilgin� iki hikaye vard�r. Biri, ACHASAN’daki 아’n�n g�zellik demek oldu�unu ve ACHASAN’�n g�zel manzaras� nedeniyle bu ad� ald��n� s�yler.

Di�eri ise daha ilgin�tir. ACHASAN’�n bulundu�u GURI �ehri’nde bir �aman vard�. GURI’nin ad� Walkerhill (Yaya Tepesi)’nin arkas�ndaki dokuz vadiden gelir. �aman, insanlar aras�nda zorbal�k yap�yordu ve asiller ondan endi�e etmeye ba�lam��lard�. “Ne harika bir �aman! �lmesine izin veremeyiz.”

Walkerhill (Yaya Tepesi)’nin arkas�ndaki vadiye bir el�i g�nderdiler. Ama �ok ge�ti. �aman zaten bo�ulmu�tu. El�i ba��rd�.

“Yaz�k! �ok ge�! �lmemeliydi!”

Da��n ACHA ismi de buradan gelir. Koreliler yanl�� bir �ey yapt�klar�nda “acha” derler; ama telafi etmek i�in art�k �ok ge�tir.

Achasan (Acha Mountain)

There are two interesting stories behind the name 'Mountain Acha'. One explains that 아 in ACHASAN means beauty, and ACHASAN got its name because of its beautiful scenery.

The other explanation is more interesting. There was once a shaman somewhere in GURI city, where the mountain is located. GURI got its name from the nine valleys behind Walkerhill. The shaman wielded power among people, and the royals were concerned about her. Some said that she deceived people and so should not be left alone, and others said that she was trustworthy. They decided to test her, and put a mouse in a box and asked her what's in the box. She got it right, and all were surprised.

"It's unbelievable."

They all said, and asked again how many mice there were in the box. 'Seven' was the answer. This time, they got her. They put only one mouse in the box, and the shaman was wrong.

"You are a fake. There's only one mouse, and you say seven. Now you are dead."

They decided to drown her at MISARI, when an officer said:

"She was clever enough to know what's in the box, so let's give her another chance, and open the stomach of the mouse to see if the mouse is carrying litters."

When they examined the mouse, it turned out to be a female, and in her stomach were six litters. After all, the shaman was right.

"Oh, what a great shaman she is. We cannot let her die."

They sent a messenger to the valley behind Walkerhill, but it was too late. She was already drowned, and the messenger shouted:

"Alas, it's too late. She wasn't supposed to die."

That's how the mountain got the name Acha. Koreans say 'acha', when they did something wrong, but it was too late to recover.

The sulfur duckling rice produced in Muam Wolseon-ri Artists’ Village is cultivated environmentally-friendly with no chemical fertilizers and therefore is very high in quality. Sulfur is a highly toxic mineral and kills both men and animals after a certain amount of ingestion. However, the Eastern Medicine has always thought that it becomes “one of the best medicines” if its toxicity can be eliminated. Our method is to feed sulfur to ducks that can detoxify sulfur better than any other animals on earth and to eliminate the toxicity of sulfur and compound the medical substances of sulfur in ducks. When fed sulfur, the ducks actively secrete detoxifying matters from the liver in order to survive. The more they are fed sulfur, the stronger they become by absorbing the medical substances from sulfur. These ducks are released in the fields about 10~15 days after seeding until the sprouts come up to eliminate all the weeds and to utilize their feces as natural fertilizers. This method allowed us to reduce the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. This is a type of environmentally-friendly farming method that can eliminate weeds, pests, king snails, etc, can provide nutrients and stimulate the rice plants, and harrow and mud the fields without using chemical.

Introduction

Located on the outskirts of Mt. Bugak, this park was the first officially-designated park in Korea (1940). The name Samcheong (literally "three blue") refers to the three highest ideals in Taoism that men can attain. Surrounded by cherry blossoms planted long ago, the park becomes crowded with tourists every April when the trees are in full bloom. The park offers many amenities: badminton and tennis courts, a playground, a snack bar, and a multi-purpose rest area.

Major hiking trails winding through Samcheong Park connect the park to the Mt Bugak Seoul Fortress Wall Hiking Trail, a mineral spring spot in Seongbuk-dong, and Waryong. While hiking, visitors can encounter Malbawi, an excellent spot chosen by City of Seoul where they can overlook Seoul at a glance. Malbawi Historic Site Visit Program, run by Jongno-go Office (Seoul), provides children and adults with the opportunity to learn about natural ecology in Samcheong Park and the history of Seoul Fortress Wall from designated guides. Through well-developed roads around Samcheong-dong, visitors can easily move from Samcheong-dong to Seongbuk-dong. Currently, Samcheong Tunnel near the park connects the two localities.
