İtfaiyeciler Yemek Yarışmasında

10 Eylül 2018'de, Seoul'un 150 km güneydoğusundaki şehirde gerçekleşen 2018 Chungju Dünya İtfaiyeciler Oyunları'nda itfaiyeciler, ağır üniformalarını yemek önlükleriyle değiştirerek yemek yarışına katıldı. Fotoğraf, oyunların organizasyon komitesi tarafından sağlandı. İtfaiyecilerin Olimpiyatı olarak da bilinen oyun, oyuna katılan 50'den fazla ülkeden 6,000 itfaiyeci ile 17 eylüle kadar devam edecek.

Güney Kore'de kısmi zamanlı olarak çalışan on kişiden yedisi Chuseok tatilinde de çalışıyor olacak.

Yerel iş arama portalı "Albamon"ın 1,000 kişiden fazla part-time çalışanla gerçekleştirdiği ankete ve cumartesi yayınladığı sonuçlara göre; Kore Şükran Günü'nde işçilerin %72'si çalışıyor olacak.

Bu orandaki büyük çoğunluk gıda ve içecek dağıtımı ve satışı işinde olup geri kalanı ise kültür ve serbest meslek alanındalar.

Tatilde çalışacak olan bu grubun %60'ından fazlası Chuseok günü olan 24 eylülde de çalışacak.

Ankete katılanların %50'si fazladan para almak için tatilde de çalışacaklarını söylerken, %48'i ofisler ve mağazalar tatil sırasında açık olacağı için işverenlerinin zoruyla çalışacaklarını belirtti.

%74'lük çoğunluk, Chuseok tatili sırasında çalışmayacak olan %25'lik kısımla aynı ödemeyi alacak.

Bazı anket katılımcılarının söylediğine göre, tatilde çalışmak istemelerinin sebebi aile üyeleriyle toplanma sırasında rahatsız hissetmekten kaçınmak için. Diğerleriyse, çok az çalışan olduğu için tatil günlerindeki yoğunluktan dert yandı.

More than seven out of ten part-time workers in South Korea will be working during the Chuseok holiday.

Local job search portal "Albamon" surveyed over a thousand part-time workers and released results Saturday showing that over 72 percent will be working during the Korean thanksgiving holiday.

The largest group of these people is employed in distribution and sales followed by the food and beverage sector and then the culture and leisure field.

Over 60 percent of those working during the holidays will also work on September 24th, which is the day of Chuseok.

Just under 50 percent of respondents said they are choosing to work for extra money while 48 percent said they are forced to because their stores and offices are not closed during the holiday.

A majority, some 74 percent, said they will receive similar pay as any other time while about 25 percent will be paid more during Chuseok.

Some respondents said they are choosing to work to avoid uncomfortable meetings with relatives during family gatherings while others complained that holiday work is more intense because of fewer employees.

Theater Director Sentenced to 6 Yrs for Sexual Assault Charges

Tiyatro Yönetmeni Cinsel Saldırı Suçundan 6 Yıl Hapis Cezası Aldı

Ünlü yerel tiyatro yönetmeni, cinsel taciz suçundan altı yıl hapis cezası aldı.

Seoul Merkez Bölge Mahkemesi, Lee Youn-taek için hüküm vererek, onu birçok cinsel suçtan dolayı suçlu buldu.

Mahkeme aynı zamanda Lee için 80 saatlik cinsel saldırıyı engelleme programı cezası vererek, Lee'yi çocuklar veya ergenlerle ilgili herhangi bir kurumda çalışmadan on yıllık süreyle men etti.

A famous local theater director has been sentenced to six years in prison on sexual assault charges.

The Seoul Central District Court handed down the verdict for Lee Youn-taek, convicting him on multiple charges of sexual crimes.

The court also ordered him to complete an 80-hour sexual assault prevention program and banned him working at children- or adolescent-related institutions for the next ten years.

It marks the first prison sentence for a well-known figure in South Korea accused of sexual misconduct since the #MeToo Movement began to sweep the country.

The 66-year-old director was indicted in April on charges of sexually harassing five female members of his theater troupe on 25 occasions between 2010 and 2016.

Gov't to Supply 300,000 Public Homes in Capital Region

Devlet Başkent Bölgesine 300,000 Ev Sağlayacak

Devlet, hızla yükselen ev fiyatlarını dengeleme amaçlı metropol bölgedeki 17 yere 35bin ev yapmaya karar verdi.

Toprak, Altyapı ve Ulaşım Bakanı Kim Hyun-mee cuma günü, başkent bölgesinde halka açık 300bin ev sağlama planını duyurdu.

Bakan, projenin ilk aşaması olarak Incheon, Seoul ve Gyeonggi Eyaletleri'nde boş duran arazileri değerlendirip 2021'den itibaren 35bin ev yapılacağını açıkladı.

Halihazırda bulunan 265bin evin yanı sıra, devlet bu yılın sonuna doğru 100bin evin yapılmasının planlandığını ve güveliğin sağlanmasının ardından eş zamanlı olarak gelecek yıl harizan bitimine doğru 165bin ev daha yapılacağını belirtti.

The government will supply 35-thousand public homes at 17 locations in the metropolitan area as part of efforts to curb soaring home prices.

Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Kim Hyun-mee on Friday announced a plan to supply a total of some 300-thousand public homes in the capital region.

As the first stage of the project, the ministry released 17 idle sites in Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi Province to build and supply 35-thousand public homes from 2021.

For the remaining 265-thousand homes, the government will release plans for 100-thousand homes by the end of this year and for 165-thousand homes by the end of June next year after securing the related sites in phases.

Illegal Aliens in S. Korea Increases by 100,000

Güney Kore'deki İllegal Yabancıların Sayısı 100,000e Ulaştı

Güney Kore'de illegal bir şekilde kalan yabancıların sayısı bir yıl içinde neredeyse 100bin artarak bu sene 330bine ulaştı.

Adalet Bakanlığının verilerine göre, 330bin yabancı, temmuzdan beri geçerli vizeye sahip olmadan ülkede kalıyor. Bir sene öncesine göre 232binden, 98bine artış gösterdi.

Verileri gönderen muhalefet parti Özgürlük Kore Partisi milletvekili Joo Kwang-deok'un belirttiğine göre, bu sayının yaklaşık 90bini uzun süreli kaçak kalanlar.

The number of foreign nationals staying in South Korea illegally increased by nearly 100-thousand in a year to top 330-thousand this year.

According to the data by the Ministry of Justice, about 330-thousand foreigners were staying in the country without a valid visa as of July, up about 98-thousand from 232-thousand from a year earlier.

The data submitted to opposition Liberty Korea Party lawmaker Joo Kwang-deok showed that about 90-thousand of them were long-term illegal aliens.

The lawmaker said that the surge in illegal aliens is attributed to various factors such as the expanded no-visa entry program around the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
