Dong-gu, Busan Şehri'ni oluşturan bölgelerden biridir. (Daegu,Daejeon,Gwangju ve Incheon'da da aynı isimli bölgeler bulunmaktadır.) Dong-gu'nun geçmişi günümüzden yaklaşık 3000 sene öncesine kadar dayanmaktadır. 1957 yılında Busan Şehri ilk kez bölgelere ayrılarak yapılandırıldığında, Dong-gu Busan'ı oluşturan 6 bölgeden biri olmuştur. ( Busan günümüzde 16 bölgeden oluşmaktadır.) Dong-gu'nun nüfusu 2008 rakamlarına göre 104,819 kişidir. Busan İstasyonu Dong-gu'dadır.

. 7: 6 Genişlik ve yükseklik oranında oval amblemi; gurur, uyum, vatanseverlik ve Dong-gu vatandaşlarının sevgisini, ilerleme çabasını temsil eder.
. Amblemi sol yarısı üzerinde Çince karakter 東 ('dong,' 'Doğu' anlamına gelir) sol bölümünü çağdaş bir tarzda tasvir ediyor, Dong-gu uzun tarihi ve geleneği, doğum yeri Busan Limanı'nı temsil ediyor.
. Amblemin sağ yarısı Dong-gu geleceği temsil eder, güçlü bir şekilde beş kıta ve altı okyanusa uzanır gibi. İki zıt renk koyu mavi ve kırmızı; devamlığı ve gelenekleri (mavi), yenilik ve dinamik ilerleme (kırmızı) temsil eder.

Dong-gu (literally east gu) is a gu in central Busan, South Korea. It was one of the first 6 gu of Busan established in 1957.Busan Station is located in Dong-gu.
Dong-gu has a status of sister localities with Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju and Zhifu District in Yantai City, China.

Symbols of Dong-gu
. The oval emblem, with a width-to-height ratio of 7:6, represents the pride, harmony, local patriotism, and love of Dong-gu’s citizens, striving for advancement.
. On the left half of the emblem, we see the left portion of the Chinese character 東 (‘dong,’ meaning ‘east’) depicted in a contemporary style, representing the tradition and long history of Dong-gu, the birthplace of the port of Busan.
. The right half of the emblem represents the future of Dong-gu, as it powerfully stretches out to five continents and six oceans. The two contrasting colors, deep blue and red, denote the continuation and handing down of tradition (blue) and innovation and dynamic progress (red).
